Tuesday evening was a beautiful evening to get out and see the rise of the Full Pink Moon. I chose to go to Boston to photograph it rising next to the Boston University Center for Computing & Data Sciences. It was stunning!
As a moonrise burns across the horizon, lights dance above the Old Man of Storr in Scotland. This iconic rock formation was illuminated with powerful lights attached to drones, which cut through the darkness to reveal the icy landscape.
Yesterday was a purrfect day to explore Anza Borrego State Park with @wobs. We covered a lot of ground in 12 hours door to door! So many shades of color and warm sunny air to soak in ❤️ The Galleta Meadows sculpture collection, overlook hike, twisty mountain drives, and a gorgeous moonrise into dusk! Julian Pie as our reward for getting back to the beach cat fort!!
Yesterday's full moon rising over the snowy Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Very telephoto this time (700mm and then cropped). The mountains are ~60km away, the moon farther, and distortions through that much air blurred the moon a lot.
Here's the full moon rising tonight over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in northern New Mexico. Boy, do I wish I could share this view tonight in HDR, where you could see the brilliant yellow moon and all its features, but browsers and file formats and screens just aren't there yet.
We drive three hours round trip just to see these wintering Snow Geese. That day this pic was taken we were watching the moonrise (98.5 illuminated) when they flew in the nearby field.
In the hurry to take a snap I shot with an unecessarily fast shutter speed and only noticed it now, but I still like how it turned out (even though I had to stack 3 frames to get noise down…)
As usual, I was up all night but one of us has to keep an eye on the #moon, lest it wander off unattended... It'll be daylight when it sets, no good photos expected then, so here's the #MoonRise last evening #FullMoon , extra red is wildfire smoke in the atmosphere
