Seriously wish people would report to plugin devs before .org plugins team for a security issue on a plugin. One fix requires a complete refactor to pass all of standards checks of modern plugin requirements and that may kill one of my older plugins as I just don’t have a time for that right now.

skc,
@skc@scottodon.com avatar

@Imoptimal these are free plugins I built long ago that I kept on life support, I definitely am over committed right now on things to do and just don’t have the time to refactor them so they pass a full plugin review.

I could have made the security fixes if someone contacted me direct but since they contacted the .org plugin team first, they pulled the whole plugin and now it needs to pass the full review process.

@chris @ramsey @tim there’s a big lack of an equivalent open source project in this space without the need for a dev, and without paying for a SaaS

    Automattic WordPress.com and AI
I first saw the news from 404media that Automattic was going to start selling user content to AI companies looking for data. As with most media companies, 404 failed to make the distinction between Automattic/WordPress.com and WordPress.org the open source software.

Then I read this post about protecting user choice from Automattic which is big on

@chris we loved the movie, finally able to watch it last night and it was just great. We enjoyed Ms Marvel and the related movies/shows that lead to The Marvels.

This article is all about how things are looking great for hiring Laravel devs in 2024, and I’m not seeing it.

I’ve been job-searching for 3 months, and very, very, very few of those jobs are decent-paying / jobs. Sure, PHP/Laravel jobs exist, but most (anecdotally) pay far less than the rate others are willing to pay for , , , , , , and developers.

The industry does not value the output of PHP developers.

Got a legacy PHP app that is mission critical and nobody on your dev team wants to touch?

I have a new project for you!

Tackle my Tech Debt is a service that will take over maintaining that mission-critical, under-appreciated application for a fraction of the cost of hiring a full time developer or diverting someone off product development.

We’re looking to launch early Q2 with 3-5 customers in beta. Is that you? Reach out for more!

A rant, a soliloquy, a speech. What do they have in common? Passionately speaking about a topic in an engaging manner that captures people's attention.

P.S.: Every Twitter thread is a rant. Whether you find it insightful, annoying, silly, or smart.

    P.P.S: I rant pretty often.

I've been running on fumes financially for the past couple of months, which is something that happens with freelancers.

I've owed Zalando a rather low amount since November that I've been holding off until the end of this month and their collection agency just send me a fucking summons?

    A summons!

@chris @alda I was once served by MySpace and those servers are sneaky! I wasn’t hiding or anything but they were hiding their intent all the way up until they confirmed identity lol

@alda are you meeting business people / clients there to do work? Or is it research related for a project? Lots of ways I could think this could work
