@mike 's contributions to #FOSS and #DeSoc go back much further than just the #ActivityPub portions of the Fediverse, well over a decade in fact, as the creator of #Mistpark, now #Friendica, and also #Zot6 and #Nomad, which promises to be a show changer for identity in the world of Social communications.
A year ago he released the promised algorithm for determining content pushed upon you (if you use twitter).
Perhaps more surprisingly, He admitted that even internally, that the #spaghetti_code comprising it isn't even fully understood internally by their staff. That's more #transparency than was expected.
But now, just a few hours ago, he released the source for #xAI's #Grok chatbot too, under the #Apache_license:
This "Challenge" is completely safe (except for what it might unlock in your minds eye).
It will not cause you to choke to death on a tablespoon of cinnamon, or cause brain trauma due to you trying to prove that your TikTok cranium is harder than the ice of a frozen lake bed, or some other stupid fucking stunt that you saw so-called, "creators" on that platform inducing your to perilously subject yourself to harm.
@tallship@claudiom I’ve been using the “new geninitrd command” (quote from 15 release notes) on one of my #slackware 15.0 systems. Works for me, but that machine is mostly stock
With the great strides achieved by the #FOSS Champion #Nextcloud, it has been increasingly obvious that #ownCloud needed an exit strategy of its own...
Finally, someone understands the value of requiring someone to pay "SOMETHING", in order to alleviate #Spam and hold people posting their thoughts accountable as the individuals that have done so.
It's a proven concept by the #Stellar Foundation that has proven that even some pittance of monetary consideration breaks Spam because Spammers follow the path of least resistance (zero cost).
There's a new kid on the block - and there's no punches being pulled here either - I would love if some of the folks could weigh in here with their thoughts about the developer's observations...
I've seen this on four social networks in the #Fediverse now in just over a week - #ActivityPub, #ZOT, #nostr, and #Movim/XMPP. These memes are going around, but what about those privacy disrespecting, deprecated legacy silos like #Faceplant, #Twitter, and #InstaSPAM or #Reddit - Why is it that we're preaching to the choir instead of to the sinners of the #SunnyVale_Syndrome?
Go forth, save those poor souls over on the silos, Tell them that they're pork bellies. Muahahaha!
@tallship There is a picture featuring the description including the words:
> ... the bucket of the lunar manipulator complex
(would make an interesting line to sing)
what a strange world we live in where political leaders want to fill celestial orbs with their robo junk rather than provide sanitary systems for their citizens.
@tallship Oh man, this brought me way back. Two of my colleagues in the beginning of 2000s recommended me #Slackware as the best distribution to kick-start my #Linux journey. Initially I was sure they were trolling me as it took me good 3 months to get to the point I was able to launch X, but I’ll remain forever grateful as I learned so much because of it… To this day my muscle memory defaults to checking out man pages instead of Googling things 🤷🏻♂️😄
Two months ago, Dylan Molina was sentenced to 15yrs in prison. On 27 Nov 2021 he ran a red light and t-boned a car with a family of 4 inside, seriously injuring everyone and killing the dad - Euless Texas PD Det. Alex Cervantes.
Molina was driving a Jeep Wrangler with a blood alcohol content twice the legal limit. Cervantes was with his wife and kids, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
I know i don't normally post shit like that but when you're a parent it doesn't matter how old your kids are you think about this shit happening so the time and want to protect them.
Some thing's though, cannot be prepared for.
Be careful out there folks. The world is harsh and there's no such thing as a safe space.
Don't delude yourself and suggested look both ways before crossing - you can be right, and you can bet dead right - green doesn't mean go without looking first.
