Einige der Ideen von Bluesky finde ich durchaus cool.
Gerade das Konzept einen "Algorithmus" in die Kontrolle des Users statt der Plattform zu legen hat durchaus Vorteile.

Auch, dass man seine eigene Domain als Usernamen durchregistrieren kann und damit auch gleich das Verifikationskonzept abgefrühstückt hat, ist klasse.

Aber das AT Protokoll ist bislang doch eher holprig und vorerst ja auch nur ein luftiges Föderationsversprechen.

Da bleib ich gern lieber hier. 😅

    On Ivory for Mac, is there a way to have more than 4 columns? I don't need them to all fit on the screen, but side scrolling towards them would be rad.
    I’m running multiple accounts and the "click & choose” route feels a bit tedious over time.

    @ivory yeah that was what confused me. I set the slider to 6 but nothing happened. (14" M2 MBA)
    It would be really rad if one could just side scroll through additional columns.

    @TechConnectify For what it’s worth, I do fully agree with your assessment. I too wish they'd untangle Music from the rest and just make more options for users. Plus more transparency how things are divvied up between YT and the creators and who gets what and how.
    But they also need to be more mindful about who they let advertise on their platform. Too often I see absolute garbage person insanity wrapped into ad form on there on videos I am absolutely sure the creator would be furious about.

    I like ActivityPub and the decentralized social Web as much as the next person but we all know that scalability is a massive problem and I haven't seen too many convincing approaches to fix that. So let's not pretend this is just a magic silver bullet.

    Blogs and the web didn't scale to actual web traffic (which admittedly many blogs never needed), centralized caches and services were necessary for this stuff to work. Which is exactly why we got so much centralization.

    Solving that for decentralized social networks is the core issue.

    Could part of that be met by something like voluntary relay nodes? Basically like exit nodes for Tor or snowflake relays for Signal? Someone with lots of bandwidth willing to “donate” parts of it to the network. A low power instance pushes a request once to a list of known nodes who then distribute to the myriads of user requests that might otherwise overload the instance.
    Just spitballing here obviously in an attempt to avoid full on recentralisation a little.

    Ich würde bedauern, dass dümmlichster Antisemitismus niemanden sofort zum Eingreifen bewogen hat.

    Die Kritik würde ich jedenfalls nicht bedauern, sondern begrüßen, ernst nehmen und entsprechend handeln.

    It's similar with being queer in general as well. Being “different” more or less forces you to re-evaluate everything. It forces you to engage with yourself and the world in a way that cis hetero folks have to decide to do on their own. And most just don’t because it is uncomfortable to do so, albeit freeing eventually.
    I think it made me a better person than I would have been, had I been a cis het guy.

    Das ist ziemlich genauso wie mit dem Toleranz-Paradoxon.
    Uns ist klar, dass unwirscher, teils "illegaler" Umgang mit Faschisten bei der breiten Masse komisch und harsch ankommt. Wir sind ja selbst alle keine Fans von Gewalt. Ganz im Gegenteil.
    Aber wenn wir das nicht tun, gewinnen die Faschisten. Das darf nicht zugelassen werden, und so ist maximal scheiße zu ihnen sein das kleinere aber notwendige Übel.
    Leider leben wir nicht in einer idealen Welt in der das nicht nötig wäre. 😭

    For the foreseeable future, I won't have time for a 100-hour game like , although I absolutely loved Part 1 and 2. 🚸

    That's why I am glad that games like this can be played for one hour at a time. Oh, and the graphics are gorgeous.

    Jokes aside, though. I've been playing a good chunk by now and while the game definitely wants you to sink a lot of time into it, most areas or encounters etc. are fairly bite sized to be able to be handled in an hour or less.

    BTW, folks who think the US standard plug is scary have clearly never encountered one of our range plugs before.

    (This plug is also often used for EV charging, supporting 9.6 kW continuously)

    Yeah, I actually saw that, and had my own assumptions that the voltage difference probably makes things less... deadly.
    It's still very funny to me, that the US plugs are... SO so bad.
    Plus... even with the halved voltage... I would figure a toddler touching the prongs is still not going to have the best of times.

    I jammed a fork into our toaster once as a kid. That also was a lesson. 😅

    Cool! Yeah German outlets usually come with little plastic shutters as well by now. Even tho even baby fingers... will have a hard time to get crammed in there.
    I was more concerned about not properly seated plugs in the US where the plug prongs are... easy to be touched once slightly dislodged.

    Oh yeah I totally agree. Changing it now would be a logistical nightmare. Particularly the overlap period when you'd have basically two plug standards that probably are very much incompatible with one another. (Sure adapters and such, but still.) That's just never going to happen, I guess.

    Then again... it happened for cars~ :D
    (I know, I know, much less common, much easier adjustable etc. ^^)

    Ganz ehrlich... ich kann Fabians konstantes Trek-Gebashe nicht mehr hören.
    Wie er sich da Mal um Mal in Rage schreibt und jetzt über die eindeutig beste Trek Staffel seit Jahrzehnten abhated ist, im Gegensatz zu seinem Objekt der Abscheu, wirklich albern und peinliches Nerd- Mimimi.
    Was zu Discovery-Zeiten noch zumindest verständlich war ist jetzt einfach nur noch reflexhaftes Abkotzen und ich weiß wirklich nicht warum ihr ihm dafür noch das Podium geben müsst. 🙄
