A massive shout out to @andycarolan for my rather spiffy new profile pic. Look, it’s me in avatar form, with coffee and cake! How cute is that?

Find yourself someone who polishes your walking boots the way @DavidTanner polishes mine

It’s that time of year. Here, in no particular order, are my top 5 books read in 2023.

The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell
Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel

Honourable mentions to The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern and Piranesi by Susanna Clarke, both of which were re-reads.

Sunny this morning, so we headed out to NT Cragside, where I totally failed to get any decent photographs. Just managed to consume some Christmas cake and a flask of tea before it started raining again. Now back at home, it’s very dark and pouring down. Is this ever going to end?

Anyone know what day it is, and when the bins are being collected?

@LarsFosdal that sounds amazing! We have nothing like that in the UK.

Sitting in the kitchen noodling on the internet whilst the bread bakes, looked out of the window, and this was happening

I made a new thing for Day 22 of #ArtAdventCalendar - a hammered silver bangle with teeny copper hearts. It’s portrait, so you may have to tap to see all of it.

Not very seasonal, but here’s a wildflower pendant for #ArtAdventCalendar day 18.

This is another one that got away. I was going to keep it if it didn’t sell over Christmas last year, but it did. One of my favourite ever beachcombing finds.
Sea pottery pendant with tulip design for Day 7.

I’ve been out for a very chilly and frosty walk this afternoon. The light was lovely when I set off, but it was already getting gloomy by around 3.30. I can see how people who aren’t familiar with the area get caught out in the hills at this time of year.

Colour photograph taken in failing light. The sun is setting over distant hills, just turning pink on the horizon. In the foreground is a line of long grasses, with a stubble field beyond, stretching down to a hedgerow, the a frosty field and a tree line. A tall hedge runs down the right hand side if the picture.

This was a bit of an experiment, but I was really pleased with how it turned out. Oak leaf charm pendant for day 6
