Wendy Carlos won multiple Grammy awards for pioneering the use of synthesizers in her music. She composed the original soundtrack for Tron. She also happenes to be trans.

Parliment will be debating the EHRC's guidance to change the definition to 'biological sex' in the Equality Act 2010 on 12th June.

We can't talk about trans health without talking about mental health too. Accessing timely and proficient healthcare can massively affect someones mental health.

Today the DfE published draft guidance on "Gender questioning children" for schools and colleges. We're yet to read it, but from all accounts it sounds bad.

However, important things to know:

1. It's a draft.
2. There is a public consultation and it's open until 12th March.
3. It is non-statutory - this means that schools and colleges don't have to follow it and don't have to make any changes to what they're already doing.

TransActual comments on government plans to ban trans women from women’s hospital wards:

This is an answer in search of a problem, concocted without input from any organisations representing those - trans people - most likely to be impacted by this diktat.

There is no evidence of any issue arising from trans women in women's wards.

Meanwhile, they are doing nothing of substance to rescue the NHS.

Self-determination for trans people is nothing new. Sir Ewan Forbes changed the sex on his birth certificate in the 1940s, announced his new name in the newspaper and legally married his wife. His cousin challenged the change for reasons of inheritance, but the judge ruled in Ewan’s favour.

Since the launch of the #CassReview in 2020, the situation for trans children in the UK has continued to decline. In 2022 the UK Minister for Health called for clinicians to look for evidence of “what has caused children to be trans,”

The Cass Review was cited by the British government to justify plans to exclude trans people from legislation to ban conversion therapy.
