Is there a handy shorthand for "you wanted my opinion and/or expert advice and I'm giving it to you because you asked but when you don't like the answer I'm not going to argue because I don't care enough about what you are doing to defend what I said?" I'm tired of having to politely articulate it anew every time it happens. Mostly in personal life or volunteer space. Coworkers are basically cool.

Two days at the waterpark with my kids and I feel like I was on a 48 hour bender. Dehydrated, out of any kind of emotional energy, tapped out of any level of vigilance, and happy to be back at a dimmed computer screen in the corner of my basement with quiet music playing in my headphones.

Today, I had a candid conversation with President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China.

I emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and in the South China Sea, and raised concerns over the PRC’s support for Russia’s defense industrial base, their unfair trade policies, and economic and technological practices that harm American workers and families.

Tell me a silly/funny childhood story!

I'll start:

One time in Sunday School, the teacher was talking about the difference between humans and animals, and mentioned that Animals had Tails and humans didn't. I let her know this was not true, because my Dad had a tail, just in the front, instead of the back. The teacher was silent for several seconds, and tried to correct me in a church appropriate way, but I doubled down, and insisted that my little brothers also had front tails too. This got so heated that the teacher had to go get my parents to take me out of Sunday School.

I love explaining complicated subjects in a quippy way that isn't necessarily wrong. For example:

Kubernetes is 20 while-true loops in a trench coat pretending to be a container orchestration platform.

@timbray @hazelweakly I was at at least one hotel last year getting a replacement where they said “as soon as you use this key, your other two will not work” so I know it’s on a few systems. I suppose you could bolt on a max iat memory onto your OAuth system that would reject anything issued prior to the last one seen regardless of exp time
