This is view source on the Threads homepage. Modern front end development is beyond satire at this point. In desktop Firefox with out-of-the-box uBlock Origin, it renders a completely black page.

At some point, people will rediscover the unfashionable idea that plain old HTML is pretty good if your goal is publishing bits of text on the internet. Maybe after that, if they want to make it look nice, they could look into these exciting new Cascading Style Sheets we hear so much about.

Flertallet i Sverige vil forby koranbrenning sier en undersøkelse melder NRK.

Jeg er usikker.

På den ene siden er det uaktuelt å forby å vise misnøye mot religion, og tydelige markeringer som dette kan være et effektivt middel som religionskritikk.
Brenne Bibelen som kritikk mot abortforbud, for eksempel.

Samtidig blir koranbrenning brukt mest som hatprat slik det foregår nå, og den bruken vil man (jeg) gjerne til livs.

Finnes gode løsninger?

@siljelb @gauteweb @Piraya @thomasrost @kly I de fleste tilfeller hvor man brenner regnbueflagg, så er det noens flag man brenner, så det er både hærverk og en hatytring.

Om man brenner et regnbueflagg man har kjøpt selv, så er det også ganske åpenbart en hatytring på lik linje som å brenne andre symboler. Jeg tenker at brenning av religiøse tekster er i grenselandet fordi det kan både være en hatytring og en protest mot makt. Alle slike handlinger trenger å sees i kontekst av makt.

I got a text message from the health system. Saying I have a message. I log into the app. I go to the messages. The message reads "would you like to stop getting paper messages and switch to digital?"

I'd really much rather have to check my letters once a day than be mildly panicked on a lazy morning with your digital invasion.

@Loukas I really hate the notification overload we have today. I started an online course earlier this week, and have been busy disabling email notifications for the course, the platform used for lab exercises, and their Slack channel. All of which have been spamming my inbox all week with nonsense.

@AmandaWeaver I don't remember much about it other than that it was a low quality, but fun movie to watch.

There is definitely a sweet spot of entertaining B movies between the good ones and the really bad ones. I may have to rewatch this one!

Yup, Starship Troopers is still a fun movie to watch. The CGI holds up OK too, being from 1997 and all.

The book is awful though. The movie is much better.

@Zarr In this case, I saw the movie first. But the book and movie are almost two different stories. I also don't like Heinlein in general and only read this book because I liked the movie. His books are some of the least appealing SciFi I know of. I've tried reading other books too.

@synlogic @Liffonmelsmork This. I do nearly all of my writing in markdown (blogging), restructured text (technical writing) or plain text (fiction writing). I even created a text editor for fiction writing based on plain text with minimal markdown-like formatting. I rarely have to touch an office type text editor, and I'm very grateful that my work doesn't require me to.

Taking my first steps to learn how to package up a GUI application into an .exe file. No serious plans for it, just curious how it works. Anyone got any tips or potential pitfalls they'd like to share?

So far I've used this guide to get me started and I'm using customtkinter as my UI toolkit of choice.

My CPU is running at just under 100⁰C. I just bought Fringe on Bluray, and I'm currently copying it all into my Plex setup. Maybe the ambient temperature + the encoding work is pushing my PC a little hard 😅

I never finished Fringe back when it aired, so rewatching it feels reasonably fresh, although I remember bits and pieces when I see it. In any case, another episode is ready to watch, so here we go!
