Unless something absolutely out of the normal happens, we know that we're going to win. But the process of enduring the first few minutes when Liverpool never appear to shake off their sleep takes an awful lot of patience.
found a file called cursed.mjs in one of my directories that i didn't remember what's inside
open it
it has code that runs my port of openFPGALoader, a native application, to Wasm and WebUSB, on Node.js, using a polyfill of WebUSB on top of nodeusb. and also this Normal replacement for fetch()
New paper thread! "Visibility of Satellites During the April 2024 Total Solar Eclipse" by me, @hannorein, and Aaron Boley. https://arxiv.org/abs/2403.19722
This paper started when we asked the question "Oh shit, are there so many bright Starlinks now that people will be able to see them during totality?!"
Later this week, this will be published in Research Notes of the American Astronomical Society, and hopefully an accompanying plain language article will be in the Conversation Canada.
It seems that the term 'server' in Discord is used quite liberally to refer to a running service, but from the looks of it it's just a marketing term in that context. No real server, or discrete system is assigned to new users who create a Discord "server", for what I can see at least.
You're right. But I don't know how much control of "servers" do their "proprietors" have and what are their "operator" privileges that could allow them to solve any real problems. Probably very little wiggle room to do anything substantial other than communications and damage control meanwhile Discord people sort things out.
Going back to the actual point that matters most, to me at least.
What's the total carbon footprint of the advertising and social media-based web? (Not just the highly optimised servers)
50th birthday today. I wish I had some hard-earned wisdom to share, discovered in so many laps around the sun. The truth is I’m still figuring things out myself.
