@thepoliticalcat The article says as much itself. Maybe writing a letter to the editor of The Atlantic would help? Just don’t cuddle with wild animals - that seems like pretty simple advice. Rabies is common, too.
@thepoliticalcat My fig tree has become a haven for every fruit eating, tree-dwelling furry thing in the hood for some years now. It once was mine, and I do get some fruit in the first harvest, but it’s a free feeding spot, so I’ve yielded to the raccoons, roof rats, squirrels, scrub jays, towhees, and maybe even possums. Their spittle isn’t safe for me - but I couldn’t eat all that fruit anyway.
@levampyre I think most citrus ripens in the colder weather, so new fruit won’t be usable until next year. Meyer lemons are a cross between a citron and a tangerine/pomelo hybrid. My garden is south-facing, so there’s loads of sunlight, and lots of fruit.
@wendinoakland I will try buying a tree in a pot that I take indoors in winter. One of my co-workers has one. And yes, when we had a video call recently there were actually lemons hangig on her tree, in winter. Fascinating!
Interesting inconvenience: turning ebook pages on my iPad sends remote directions to the ceiling fan, turning it on, turning on the light, switching spin directions… Working on a fix, frustratingly old af tech (the fan). 😳
@fkamiah17 It's raining here, nothing particularly scary. The media adores a dramatic storm - especially since, for a brief moment, it's NOT war or politics but OMG SNOWWWWW! Alan's out getting some groceries - we'll actually be perfectly fine! 😸
