"Exploring experimental digital work will always be very new by principle that this is an ever growing possibility space where anyone’s wildest dreams can be made true…”

wildflower,

@alienmelon I spent the last 3 years building a digital poetry journal as a solo-developer.

I've tried to bring accessibility into the design choices, but I feel terrible that I don't have a font size menu yet. I've done my best to build secure and reliable cloud sync, but there are some indicators of security that can only be purchased like the certificates you mentioned.

Thanks for reminding me to judge my work based on my circumstances 😌

I'm buzzing with excitement to share the digital poetry journal we've been working on 💖

wildflower,

Every poem starts with a spark of inspiration,

we've moved our writing prompts to show up right above where you would write down what's on your mind.

wildflower,

You can make writing poems a part of your daily practice by adding them to journal entries.

I created a website for just that, and you can try it today at giantheartpoetry.com 💝

Whenever I read "Winter Recipes for the Collective (2021)" I would cry a little at the poems because they made me feel a closeness to the end of life journey. Some nights I would read them as bedtime stories because they were so comforting.

Today I learned that the poet who wrote it, Louise Glück, died in October. I hope that her passing was as gentle as her last book.

Is there anyone out there who has been both a librarian and a bookseller?

I would love to know how they compare

Light from Uncommon Stars (Ryka Aoki) 10/10

A devastatingly poignant and wholly unique book that I'm going to struggle to describe, but will try anyways.

The premise and characters are absurdist (a donut lady/starship captain, the queen of hell, etc) but the execution is raw and beautiful.

The plot orbits around a runaway trans girl, Katrina, who escapes her abusive family only to fall into the orbit of the queen of hell.

I loved this book from cover to cover!

One of my favourite parts was looking up all the violin pieces referenced. Here is a song that Katrina's rival plays near the middle.

I've started a poetry blog!

The first 11 posts are already live and I'm so proud of them.

https://paperbalm.com

I talk about poetic techniques, share memories and get excited about the themes in the poetry I read.

Here's what I'm reading this month!

"Grocery List Poems" by Rhiannon McGavin. I bought it because it was featured in the novel.song book club and the poet seems chaotic good.
(interview: https://www.instagram.com/p/CrrDTa2oJYo/)

and

"Divination with a Human Heart Attached" by Emily Stoddard who is the organizer behind the excellent Poetry Bulletin (https://www.poetrybulletin.com/)

I can't wait to experience all these new poems 💖
