A neighbor stopped me on my walk yesterday to say she bought one of my from the local and that she loves it.

Its called “If you do art today your house will be a mess (a love letter to my creative friends)”

It’s all about how it’s okay to let some things (like housework) slide to pursue other goals (like ). She said she keeps it in her purse to help her remember to be with herself 🥰🥰💜💜

My neighborhood indie book store has closed.

What are the current indie-bookstore options for online ordering these days?

Found these delights at Bookshop Bivar in Lisbon, and if you're in Portugal and looking for second hand books in English, this is the bookstore to go. They also send by post to other places in Portugal.

The bookstore’s doors first opened in Dec. 2021 after owner Lucy Yu crowdfunded $18,000 in two months to lease the space, formerly a funeral supply store.

A group of anarchists in North Carolina that run a bookstore took in thousands of books banned in Florida, and are now distributing them to anyone who wants them. Lots of them right back to Florida 😂

Last two books for my Bookmaking Class at Lillstreet! First one is a French chain long stitch book. I LOVE the cover and the pattern on spine but had some trouble with the paper.

The second one is a Belgian Secret Stich. This was such a fun one to make - and it feels so professional, too!

When we visited Portland last summer, the only place we went many times was Powell's City of Books. It is the best bookstore in the world. I grabbed an extra bag because I knew I wanted to make a book out of it.

A book project in progress. There is a large paper rectangle with the text "Powell's City of Books" with bok graphic brown paper surface, with crafting tools including a bone folder, utility knife, and sewn binding.

There was far too much doing in this weekend, and not enough just being.

Taking a few hours off work tomorrow, planned it ahead on Friday .

After I help mom in the morning, I am taking off for the rest of the day to a little bookstore that I love that has great coffee .

Just me, a sunny window, endless shelves of books, coffee, and poetry .

Bliss.

Last night I wanted a new audiobook to listen to. I usually just use Apple Books but am giving Libro.fm a shot because they’re DRM-free and have a scheme to support local brick and mortar bookstores. 📚

fellow - spread the word! a unified interface is now live - https://www.indiebookstores.ca

You can search books and see the page and click on the "SHOP LOCAL" button e.g. https://www.indiebookstores.ca/book/9780593230275/

Ask your favorite bookstore to join. It is still a soft launch so be gentle please. The backend is powered by something that already existed, called Bookmanager. This has been in works for a while courtesy the Canadian Independent Booksellers Association - cibabooks.ca.

I’m in love with this concept. 📖

“Yoshiyuki Morioka decided in 2015 to open his bookstore that offers just one book per week.

Located in Ginza district, the small bookshop Morioka Shoten offers just one book (but sells multiple copies of it). Customers can either buy it or wait until the next week for a new literary option.”
