The difference is that this time, they've managed to anger a large part of every demographic. Last time, it was a certain type of person and the remainder just said "don't slam the door on your way out".
It was never meant to be a reasonable price. They didn't expect anyone to accept that and were baffled when someone developer actually was willing to pay it.
And that's only the ones that have announced to /r/ModCoord that they are going dark since the site last refreshed. /r/detroitlions is going dark but isn't on that list.
