You don't need to use the official Mastodon apps, they're not the best way to use Mastodon. The official apps only arrived last year, and they were intended as "Fisher Price My First Mastodon" things with a restricted set of features.

Third party apps have been around longer than official ones, and include way more features. You can sign in with the same account on all apps.

:android: On Android try Tusky, Fedilab, Megalodon, Tooot

:apple_inc: On iPhone/iPad, try Toot!, Ice Cubes, Ivory, Mona

@MettEagle @Micha_Silver @feditips Do you find that the official app is slow to load?Sometimes I open the app and drag it to refresh then leave it open, go do some things and check back to see if it’s refreshed. It often doesn’t refresh for over 24 hours. I’ve even switched instances and still have the same problem.

@feditips @MettEagle @Micha_Silver I’m using the ios version. Neither app updates nor ios updates have improved the problem. I did try Ivory but I stopped using it before the end of the 7-day trial. It was still early in my twitter escape and I was struggling with the differences btwn the platforms.

@feditips To refine my question, I switched to using my laptop and everything seems to load instantly. I looked at my phone and the notifications for this convo hadn't updated yet. Only your initial response had come through there. So annoying.

@Free_Press I am not a Putin-spotter by any stretch of the imagination but, after you pointed it out, I thought it was interesting that the camera was careful to capture his profile from the rear 3/4 position and made sure that there were lots of obstacles blocking a good, clear shot. 🤔

New York state’s $250 million fraud lawsuit against Donald Trump, his company and three of his children is still on track for a civil trial in October but now has one less defendant: Ivanka Trump.

The former president’s daughter won dismissal from the suit on Tuesday when a state appeals court ruled that the claims against her were too old.
