@rightardia I wonder if it is even more expensive than hostile architecture, putting some patches here and there, arresting people for loitering and other non-solutions that are tried in most of the world
Science warning about the dangers of climate change has NOTHING to do with taking away your rights and freedoms ... only fools and fossil fools believe that.
@GeraldKutney So far, the only things that take away my freedom are the car industry and the petro-chemical sector. Streets where I can't go with my bicycle (or even on foot) because cars make it dangerous, no transit at night, water fountains shut off in the centre of the city to sell more bottles of water, most of the city having less houses than it should (and therefore a worse housing crisis) because it was more important to make way for parking lots subsidized by taxpayers...
WEEK 30: Update from Emory University, where the police were arriving again when this photo - of both students and faculty - was taken (around midnight).
@fkamiah17
"If young people organize themselves, take over every branch of knowledge, and fight with the workers and the oppressed, there is no escape for an old order founded on privilege and injustice."
@martin OK, I'll try to answer it myself https://www.jewishvoiceforpeace.org/2024/04/22/statement-24-04-22/
But it's the opposite of what you're saying. The repression of protests that oppose a literal genocide seems to be disproportionately targeting Jewish protesters, maybe because the military-industrial complex likes minorities only when it can exploit them to oppress someone else.
@martin OK, so you want to wait for the genocide to have effectively been perpetrated before calling it genocide? That means you're giving up on any chance to stop it.
Also, we're talking about an alleged genocide that would be being perpetrated by the Israeli army, so why are you pretending that protests against that genocide are protests against American Jews? Bernie Sanders is Jewish and he opposes the genocide, Trump and Biden are gentiles and they're sending weapons to Israel
@RememberUsAlways@martin
That's not how it works. So, I'm asking you again a question that you have already ignored once: https://social.coop/@GiacomoSansoni/112325375552775292
do you think that that one provision of international law trumps all of the others (For example, the ones against collettive punishment)?
@RememberUsAlways@martin OK, so to back up your claim you should show us pieces of legislation that explicitely allow collective punishment, the targeting of humanitarian convoys whose movements had been coordinated with the Israeli army, the targeting of journalists... If you claim that there are exceptions to all of these rules, you should show the exceptions explicitely written on paper
@RememberUsAlways
Do you understand what I'm saying? You can't take a rule and baselessly assume that that one rule allows you to break all of the thousands of others. That's not how rules rule. @martin
@RememberUsAlways@martin Yes, and based on those rules the ICJ said that it's plausible that Israel is currently committing genocide. Do you think you know those rules better than the ICJ?
@RememberUsAlways I don't know if you've read the news about #massgraves at #alShifaHospital... Do you think they'll also be united in saying that killing many people and putting them in mass graves is wrong?
@RememberUsAlways How would that include the destruction of hospitals? Or the deprivation of food, water and medicines?
And why put at risk the lives of hostages instead of trying a prisoner exchange?
@RememberUsAlways Would you mind showing me the exact passage of that text that allows the destruction of hospitals, the displacement of entire populations and the deprivation of food, water and medicines?
@RememberUsAlways What do you mean by "you"? By the vague (as is typical of racists and genocide's supporters) language you're using to justify genocidal measures, it looks like the "you" to which you refer is the entire population of a geographic area.
Is that what you're trying to do?
Are you looking for pathetic excuses to justify a genocide?
@RememberUsAlways
OK, I'll repeat myself: which part of that text justifies the destruction of hospitals, the deprivation of food, water and medicines and the displacement of an entire population? You've already avoided this question once https://social.coop/@GiacomoSansoni/112322821587217760
@RememberUsAlways
"Why should the Israelis be compelled to allow aid into Gaza, when Hamas continues to hold hostage not just Israelis but also Americans?" ok, so you're advocating for collective punishment, right? Are you advocating for the starving to death of millions of civilians?
Biden's White House is exploring using military planes to airdrop humanitarian aid into #Gaza.
Trump's White House will explore using military planes to carpet bomb the remaining 2 million Gazans who Bibi hasn't managed to kill yet.
Those "vote uncommitted" scumbags in #Michigan are trying to convince Palestinian-Americans, whose loved ones will be staring up at those B-52s, to elect Trump.
@barney Look, we don't even know if those 2 million people will be alive by November, famine and diseases will kill even more than weapons if Biden doesn't start to oppose the genocide instead of endorsing it.
Those that use the hashtag #genocidejoe are trying to stop right now a genocide that's going on right now
@GreenFire@barney You can pay me if want to, but it's a fact that the US has sent weapons to Israel in the past few months and vetoed a UN resolution that requested a ceasefire, right?
When you are boycotting #Israel you are boycotting 2.2 million Palestinian Israeli Arabs and hundreds of thousands of Druze, Bedouin and many other minorities I haven't seen one person mention in the past months, not only harming the Jews you actually intend to harm, yet insist you're not antisemitic.
I've been to Jaffa a few days ago. The Palestinian Israeli Arab economy is crashing because of the Houthies. I cried from speaking with a Palestinian woman who can't get her business merchandise.
@skaly Of course, it would be rude to dismiss your feelings and the feelings of the woman you talked to. At the same time, for analogous but much more compelling reasons, are we sure that we don't risk to be rude to people in the Gaza strip if we make the current events about ourselves, while they are experiencing ordeals that go beyong our imagination? And if any of us were in their situation, wouldn't we appreciate something that could potentially save our lives?
