@enobacon I was pleasantly surprised to find I actually got to my physical therapy appointments faster on my e-bike because the route is shorter and avoids some slow stoplights, plus "parking" is a snap (literally!). It's longer to the grocery store but way more fun.
By and far, I have the best convos with random seniors / older adults when I ride my converted e-cargo bike to GGP or a grocery store. (today was with someone's dad from SoCal who just visited the de Young)
They absolutely get it and have the best questions and convo topics. My cargo is not anything special and average at best.
If SF invests in better bike infra (aka PBLs), this important demographic could mode shift much easier. Aging in place is so much easier when you're not dependent on an automobile.
Since this was published today, on Father's Day, I'll note that almost every 2-3 trips I take to the grocery store via #ebike, a middle-aged or older man will walk up to me as I pack up my groceries and ask fascinated questions about how they work, how much they cost, and how convenient they are.

PS. The kickstand is essential. Do not buy without. Also, despite my praise, Specialized sucks. Their sale of app tracking data and the restriction of custom rack options to a $300 fender-rack combo are deplorable.
@thedorismith@enobacon I know people use bromptons for their kids - like, when they're preteens the 20" wheels and very adjustable seat height works great instead of a kid bike. Would something like cargo bikes from folding bike manufacturers work? Bike Friday's Haul-a-day, Tern's HSD & GSD, etc?
@Andres4NY@thedorismith you mean 16in wheels, though other folders are typ. 20. Some from Lectric seem to have a closer reach, as I mentioned a handlebar swap can help that. Here's my 12yo ~5'4" on the supercargo, swept bars not stock. I'm 5'10".
We’re going to get a new dishwasher soon and looking at the specs on my #ebike, affordable trailers I could buy, and dishwashers at Ikea it is absolutely possible for me to tow this thing home myself.
