For the #GuildWars2 Wintersday animation I gave the Peitha model a completely different rig than the one she uses in game, this not only gave me more control but also some useful features like sticky lips and stretchy arms
To significantly speed up the rendering process I made a sphere map from in-game screenshots and used this as a background. It still took over 10 hours (even with EEVEE on a 3070ti) rendering several layers and camera angles at 4K, the end result was 140GB+ of raw frames
Usually you would either mocap these kind of animations or spend ages smoothing out and tweaking your keyframes to make it look less robotic, but I only had a very limited amount of time so for a joke this keyframe hell was good enough

Currently installing #GuildWars2 on Linux to check it out, since it's pretty much the last game seriously stopping me from fully abandoning Windows. Excited to see how it plays out, the install has been child's play so far, thanks to #lutris. Now to wait for the download.
Very excited about necro swords. From the perspective of an open world farm commander, a ranged fast-projectile piercing auto that scales off power is precisely the kind of thing you need on an optimized farming build!
Historically, necros have tagged with axe or staff, which demand heavy tab targeting and have bad projectile speed respectively. Once weapons release, I might start leading LS4 trains on my necromancer! #GuildWars2
So I guess the big #GuildWars2 download today is just for the weapon beta thingy? I might try the Necromancer sword thingy. But not sure about my Engineer / Machinist with a hammer.
Morning Folks! This is a bit of a round-up post as I talk about restarting #BaldursGate3 as a Ranger, properly starting the #GW2 SOTO Expansion, and then my daily process of chipping away at my backlog of jobs in #FFXIV
is any of the wizard’s vault stuff available via the API? knowing how much astral acclaim i have, and what the current daily/weekly/special objectives are would be great.
for example, it would be nice to know how many mystic coins are still available for me to purchase, etc. this way i can account for them when calculating crafting costs and whatnot.

I'm pretty generic/casual player. i swap Power Willbender and Power Dragonhunter builds and use Marauder stats for survivability.
They seem to keep adding weapons to everything so I'll probably end up just staying as a Willbender in the future at this rate.
Per some great advice from here yesterday, I checked the group finder last night in #GuildWars2 and lo and behold there was a group for a zone meta!
Ran the Elon Riverlands meta. Everyone as always as friendly and chill, and the whole thing went super smooth. I had done it before but I still got a few new achievements out of the run. And I ticked off on of the weekly wizard tower objectives.
Really enjoying #GW2 right now, even two expansions behind.
@Lucinellia thank u!! I'm really proud of myself, like I know that leaderboards are exploitable and not really representative of a players skill etc etc etc but it does feel really good to be the Big Numbers
Kinda stumbled into a world event train last night in Istan last night in #GuildWars2 and it was really fun. I always feel like the junior team member along for the ride, but people were plenty chill, the commander rode a raptor so us plebs without flight didn't get ditched, and I earned a bunch of achievements.
Was a pretty great time that’ll have me coming back.
@belghast @kevinbrill Too many players want a tag to follow, but not enough players are tagging up. 99% of the time all the tag has to do is get enough people into a map, but I guess folks even view that as too much responsibility.
This is a societal problem, so it needs societal change. Show folks that it's not hard to tag up and that the bar is low for success. (1/2)
@belghast @kevinbrill I do this by getting 50 players into Dragon's End and then telling everyone to leave squad and tag up.
It looks completely ridiculous. Memes and shitposts about following the tag fill map chat immediately. The minimap transforms from a useful way to find where you are into a UI stickerbomb of everyone's exact location. Nobody is organized at all...and the boss still dies! (2/2)
@daisy55 You need at least one karma map upgrade to make all the enemies in the map start dropping 1 volatile magic every kill. Adds up a lot over time.
@pixel I love the game sofar, but am a complete online multiplayer noob. Currently just doing solo stuff working through the main story, not worrying too much about builds, or stats. Very unsure about guilds, or crafting, or generally any coop/PvP stuff. Am I missing the point?
@abrokenjester not at all! explore and find what's fun for you. stumble into events, meet people, do things that look interesting. poke your head into endgame content (strikes, raids, fractals), learn pvp if that appeals to you, mess around in wvw and see if that's fun. GW's very much a theme park, look around and try what's interesting to you :)
This is what happens when you fall asleep with the laptop in bed. I’d be lying if I said this was the first time I had a gaming session that had 8 idle hours…
The timer that logs you off for being inactive is very dependent on location and population in that map. So you can spend a really long time idling in some city while very populated event based maps probably kick you after 5-10 minutes already... And then you're still online while sitting in the character selection screen.

Shame to hear convergence is easier than DE, but I'm glad to have private large scale coordinated content where you control who can join.
There are a handful of bad apples who ruin DE by sitting there and not contributing on multiple accounts. (https://reddit.com/comments/16vkmeq) Now that commanders have the power to choose who goes in, this won't be an issue for convergences.
