I call this The Mushroom. It is easily the best part of living where I do, because it is the best bus stop on the entirety of this line and one of the best in Roanoke.
There are a few stops that have leaky shelters with very limited seating with anti-homeless measures, but nothing like the coverage from rain and the decent seating options the Mushroom offers. #photography#publictransport
Walking a beautiful pathway through the historic Laudholm Farm Preserve in Wells, Maine, there is a light fog drifting in from the nearby beach and a cool bite to the air reminding me of the upcoming cold days of the upcoming winter.
Captured with the Rodenstock 32mm/4.0 HR Digaron-W (@ f/6.3 lens, Phase One IQ4-150 back, and Phase One XT camera. Composite of two shifted images (+/- 12mm from center horizontally, -12mm vertically).
Technically the "House of the Temple, Headquarters of the Supreme Council, 33°, Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction, Washington DC". The local Masonic temple, museum, library, and, I'm told, a gift shop. Definitely no human sacrifices performed there.
This is a stitched composite of two captures made from the same position, using horizontal shift movements to get a wider field of view on either side. This was really the only way to capture this building from in front of a tree that would otherwise have obstructed the facade, while also keeping its geometry undistorted. The final result is roughly the angle of view of a 14mm lens (in 35mm full frame terms), with a total of about 190 megapixels in the combined frame.
Finally fitted the new 11-32 cassette & long cage rear derailleur to my bike, hopefully giving me a fighting chance of making it up some of the fiendishly steep hills around our new home 😬✌️
New chain follows tomorrow after degreasing & waxing 🥸
In other news, the FusionDrive of our 2015 family iMac croaked today when upgrading the OS. Have plenty of backups & am trying recovery now, but a whole new machine may be needed 😕
@markmccaughrean I have not cycled in so long I am not sure I remember how. The plan is still to do it this summer... we'll see, it's become a thing. I'm glad it saved you though, I rather like having you in the world.
@Merlyn Well, to be more specific, it was the NL x cycling combo that saved me. On current limited evidence, DE x cycling may yet kill me thanks to the hills here 😬
If you’ve cycled before, you never forget. Try it this summer on some nice flatish off-road paths, & you won’t look back, I promise.
