Repaired and repainted a curbside CRT to match my NES. (lemmy.ca)
Repaired some broken solder joints, sanded out the biggest scuffs and polished most of the scratches out of the screen. Oh yeah, and the paint job.

I tried to go for an 80’s NES theme. Not perfect but not bad.

Gif from "Bucky O'Hare" (gameplay, 2D pixel graphics, side-scrolling perspective). Four characters controlled by four players (Bucky O'Hare, an anthropomorphic rabbit; Jenny, an anthropomorphic cat; Dead-Eye Duck, an anthropomorphic duck; and AFC Blinky, a anthropomorphic robot with a single, large eye) use laser guns to fight anthropomorphic toads on the surface of an alien planet, while dodging jets of fire shooting from industrial pipes.
Gif from "Bucky O'Hare" (title screen, 2D pixel graphics). The text "Bucky O'Hare" appears in large, stylized letters against a an outer-space background. dinosaurgerms, Based on a comic book series + short lived cartoon, this is one of the most absurdly beautiful arcade games I'm aware of. Like, look at this
jake4480, @dinosaurgerms 😂 I haven't played the arcade, just the NES platformer I put on my modded mini. Finally got to play it. It's a blast, kinda like Mega Man. And yeah, love Bucky. I used to watch the cartoon in the mornings as a kid! 😍

OutofPrintArchive, to retrogaming As I'm now thinking about some of my favourite Playstation 3 games, I wanted to do a shoutout to Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes.
This is Capcom's take on Omega Force's Musou (Warriors) games.
Even more over the top and somewhat more of an action game, even if you're not into the whole Musou thing, I still recommend to check this one out.
It is also on the Wii btw.Absolutely brilliant series that rarely left Japan, sadly.

scribblemacher, @OutofPrintArchive the section on SaGa Frontier is something else. Who the heck are the "legendary" Shinjuku Jacki and Bun Bun Maru? I've never heard of them and a quick search turns up nothing. And FF7 as an action RPG is prophetic given Remake. And of course whoever wrote this didn't seem to know what SaGa was. Oh those pre-Internet days...
OutofPrintArchive, CVG definitely aren't known for pulling things out of their butt, so I went on a little investigation.
I didn't know them either, but apparently there was a heavyweight kickboxer names Yusuke Fujimoto, who had the nickname Bun Bun Maru.
But the one they are describing here is actually Motoki Shinohara:

OutofPrintArchive, to retrogaming Decided to make this post as it might help people out when hunting for Nintendo carts and steer them clear from pirated ones.
The general rule of thumb is that every western Nintendo cart from the NES up to the N64 and GBA have 2 clear things to look out for.
An indented number in the label, either on the front or the back.
As well as an F(ront) or B(ack) in the plastic at the connectors.A NES cart for example:
Details in the pictures.
#retrogaming
#Nintendo
#shareyourgamesthe same rule applies for the front which will have an F, alongside a number.
On the back label of a NES cart you will find an number imprinted into the label.
OutofPrintArchive, @COMPU73E
Yeah, those have become a haven for pirates.
Luckily I got most of my games back in the day from regular stores and the ones I've picked up in the years since from sellers who know what they are doing, so I doubt I have any fakes. They are a bit harder to spot since they don't have these kinds of easy markings.

PixelBandits, to retrogaming I know. Look. I know. But I still think Sonic Spinball absolutely slaps. My real question is why do we think people DIDN'T like it as much?
PixelBandits, @timixretroplays ah the soundtrack was 100% the best thing about the game
raptor85, @PixelBandits I don't know about favorite but it's up there for me (my favorite is Sonic CD). It is one of the few sonic games I own an original copy of for the actual genesis though. I would imagine a lot of people get stuck on the second zone, the machine is way more unforgiving with instant death zones, especially if you don't know where to go.
