What a sad state your country must be in to take weapons from fucking North Korea. That’s like getting a busted slingshot from the kid who eats his own boogers.

Cruxifux, (edited )

Or maybe

Maybe

Maybe

It didn’t actually happen because NK doesn’t have the facilities to manufacture meaningful levels of weapons to one of the greatest military powers in the world right now

Could be western propaganda who knows

TachyonTele,

Because everyone should trust what this lady says, right?

cyborganism, (edited )

No. Because North Korean is fucking poor. Their military shit is from the 50’s. I’d be very much surprised if they actually provided anything to Russia other than old Soviet era weapons.

Edit: Why the downvotes? I’m not defending anyone here??

Brunbrun6766,
@Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world avatar

A simple explosive shell from the 50s and one made today are not that different. It gets launched and goes boom, doesn’t take a genius to manufacture

skillissuer,
@skillissuer@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

You’d be surprised how much metallurgy advanced. Western shells from 50s and from 90s are completely different beasts, but difference is less in NK ammo, which means lower range and lethality out of comparable calibre. This way NK 180mm shell is less lethal and maybe shorter ranged than western 155mm, it’s closer to modern 105mm

Lucidlethargy,

You mean… Like Russia? I’m not joking… I’m being 100% serious.

boredtortoise,

Wasn’t shrapnel found with NK markings? Yeah sure that could be planted if we reach far. Meh everything is conspicuous propaganda in these post-truth times

skillissuer,
@skillissuer@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

bits of ballistic missiles with NK markings and there’s some complaining by russians about low accuracy of NK 152mm propellant charges (variable amount of propellant, sometimes missing decoppering wire, decomposition etc)

NK manufactures and stores empty artillery shells and fills them as needed, because scaling up manufacture of filling plant is easy but scaling up steelworks is hard. This way shell forged in 70s but filled in 2023 is still pretty useful

Moonrise2473,

Yes sure and all the increased train traffic that the satellites are recording are just empty trains

A country that devotes most of its budget to the military is certainly unable to make ammunitions.

Go to watch the recording of their military parades to see how many weapons they’re showing.

They’re not just parading with a sad little tank from the 40s like that “greatest military power in the world”

XTL,

all the increased train traffic that the satellites are recording are just empty trains

Well, that actually would be plausible. If they had the fuel.

Lucidlethargy, (edited )

All bullshit aside, I agree. I’ve heard North Korea is actually pretty damn industrious.

Evil, fucked up, and building upon the blood, sweat, tears, and bodies of their poor and working class… But industrious all the same.

I guess I’m saying fuck them, but maybe don’t discount them.

catloaf,

Yeah, they’ve been industrious for decades. Not much choice when your natural resources are mostly mountains and minerals. Before the split, most industry was in the north and agriculture was in the south. In fact, the Kaesong industrial complex on the border was built to allow both countries to benefit from their resources (SK having money and NK having cheap labor).

FlyingSquid,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

of the greatest military powers in the world right now

Yeah, remember how they rolled over the Ukrainian military and took Kyiv in two weeks like Putin said they would?

Lucidlethargy,

Lol, wait… Russia is “one of the greatest superpowers in the world right now”?

Are you for real? Russia is a paper tiger. Yes, they do have nukes… But let’s not blow air up their asshole.

PugJesus,
PugJesus avatar

But let’s not blow air up [Russia's] asshole.

That seems to be the favorite pastime of a concerning number of people on here, though.

JohnSwanFromTheLough, (edited )

Paper tiger economy or military?

They are making big gains right now unfortunately so it would be wise not to understimate them just like Poland aren’t or France with the latter re arming at a rate not seen since WW2.

Why would they be doing this if not for the threat Russia poses.

The other overlooked factor here is they will have the most experienced and battle hardened military in the world at the end of this (well the soldiers that survive at least) But their generals and commanders are certainly getting real world experience that’s very valuable.

Cruxifux,

Yeah no I misspoke on that point for sure.

Badeendje,
@Badeendje@lemmy.world avatar

You are spreading Kremlin talking points. Spreading influence for a regime illegally trying to annex it’s neighbor, razing cities, murdering civilians and kidnapping children.

You understand that is not Okay, right?

Godric,

Russia

Greatest military power in the world

Lmfao Russia isn’t even the greatest military power in Ukraine.

I dont blame Russia though, I’d also buy anything vaguely pointy from North Korea if local farmers towed away half my tanks with their tractors

Cruxifux,

Okay, you’re right. I absolutely misspoke about the “greatest military power” thing.

sugartits,

You are now moderator of /c/Pyongyang

Cruxifux,

What’s c/pyongang?

sugartits,

What’s c/pyongang?

A misspelling of what I wrote

SuddenDownpour,

Russian’s current military doctrine involves overwhelming its opponent with larger amount of fire over precision. This means that they give preference to dumb munitions (this is, projectiles which trajectory you cannot change once they’ve been fired) over precise munitions, and North Korea is pretty much capable of providing a bunch of the former. Given North Korea’s current economy and the fact that not many countries would be interested in that kind of armament, it would make perfect sense for Russia and North Korea to make that trade. Nothing of this are judgements of value over any country, just facts and analysis.

Sorgan71,

Kim is such a hungry boy he cant even feed his sister.

chemicalprophet,

She don’t look like she’s eating her annual rice ball.

DPRK_Official,
@DPRK_Official@lemmy.world avatar

Please stop sharing lies.

The highly esteemed Kim family does not require food, so your point is entirely redundant.

3volver,

North Korea is such a let down for humanity, a sad disappointment. They’d be so much better off if they worked together with the world. I firmly believe the US military has a complete view of their imports/exports through spy satellites.

riodoro1,

let down for humanity

My brother in christ, have you seen what we’ve done to the Palestinians?

In 2024 if you’re not a misanthrope you’re naive.

YeetPics, (edited )
@YeetPics@mander.xyz avatar

Stay on topic or GTFO lmao. There’s thousand of Palestine/Israel circlejerking in .hexbear or .ml.

go have fun kiddo.

Linkerbaan,
@Linkerbaan@lemmy.world avatar

His comment is fully on topic.

Look at Palestine for one second and any moron sees why playing nice with America and the West is a suggestion from a delusional tankie.

The only thing that stops us from trying to steal every resource and overthrowing every government is not having the military might to do so.

3volver, (edited )

Whataboutism. Comparing the situation between Israel and Palestine to North Korea isn’t smart. And you say what “we’ve” done to Palestinians, I haven’t done anything to them, I didn’t vote for any of that shit.

riodoro1,

Aren’t you a human being? Do you think you really are that different from the israeli soldiers? Some psychologists from Stanford think orherwise.

GiveMemes,

Are you referring to the Stanford prison experiment? That’s been thoroughly disproven.

Linkerbaan,
@Linkerbaan@lemmy.world avatar

Man why don’t these North Koreans understand that we come in lovu and peas?!!!

@riodoro1 reminds you that Palestine which doesn’t have a massive military is currently being Genocided by a Western colony with full support from America so the suggestion that North Korea should just lay down their weapons is completely insane

WHATABOUTISM REEEEE!!

Gsus4,
@Gsus4@mander.xyz avatar

And WW3 is only getting started…lots of powder kegs loaded and everyone is juggling lit matches…

Linkerbaan, (edited )
@Linkerbaan@lemmy.world avatar

This statement makes sense if you know literally nothing about North Korea or the Korean war.

If you do know anything about it you realize why they might be a little hesitant to trust America.

cosmicrookie,
@cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

She added that the recently tested weapons are designed to attack Seoul, the South Korean capital

What a great neighbourhood to be in

robocall,
@robocall@lemmy.world avatar

Is there any incentive for her to say NK did supply weapons to Russia?

tacosplease,

Well that’s a relief

boredtortoise, (edited )

Almost all politicians lie but what’s the deal with a certain subsection of them doing the bit so blatantly?

baru,

I guess it is helped that nobody will call out their lies (and lives).

jeffw,

Well, if she said it, it MUST be true!
