Book review #21 for 2024 is Edward P. Crapol's John Tyler, the Accidental President. I think that seeing the 1840's era Presidents getting more critical looks is good for the study of American History in general and presidential history in particular. I think that the work adds to the understand of not just Tyler's administration but of 1840's America as well. A ☕☕☕☕ review #books#bookstodon#POTUS#biography#JohnTyler@bookstodon@books@bookstodon
I think “make dist”-generated tarballs are just one part of the xz debacle (and not the most frightening part), but at least we can do something about them: when they’re the byproduct of a build process, we can build them from source (like Debian does); when they add something that’s not in the VCS (such as .po files), we can at least ensure a reproducible build process as Simon advocates here.
That sounds like a rather trivial effort, but #GNU standards mandate inclusion of pre-built documentation...and there seems to be a "let's add a timestamp" fetishism that has spread like a virus.
There are several tools to change the timestamp of a PDF; and there is a specification (v1.7 I believe) that mandates the new timestamp to be appended. Which all of these tools now do.
She looks so beautiful in that wedding dress :ElainaHeart: just looking at this picture is taking my breath away. This is the kind of thing I see in my dreams! What in the world am I supposed to wear though?? I wonder if she would like a tux or dress better...

(ROUND 2) MATCH #21: 2. TOMOKO KUROKI VS. 18. TSUMUGI KATABUKI
Links to the poll account and thread for those who can't see the quote post: @AnimeGirlConnoisseur
The Fluffy Tail Mafia regained their strength last match with Senko-san's crushing fuwa victory over Lina the Sorceress. With that, we are no half-way through Round Two and nearly two-thirds of the way through the whole Tournament. Time flies when you are having fun.
Today, we have the popular unpopular fujo girl facing the popular-to-us popular-to-them nice girl.
** 2. Tomoko Kuroki / Watamote! **
The famous fujo comes back after the fierce round with Bocchi the Rock. Tomoko is a bit of a contraversial
Koropokkur of Nice Crew Digital says, "tomoko is in a minority of fujo that doesnt like yaoi and thats why she is special." Awww—
"[Tomoko's] one of those gals that will grind her snatch on yer pelvis when you dont spank her." Oh, uhhhhhh, okay! Yeaaaaah! Let's forget about that.
** RR 18. Tsumugi Katabuki / K-On! **
Mugi-bros unite! The mascot of the Mugicha Club and main sponser of this tournament has made it to round two. With her classy and innocent school girl charm, Mugi-chan has sailed easily. Mugi will have a slightly better advantage than Tomoko.
Vrill_Oreilly from the Comfy Boy Club declared all the way back from the first Royal Rumble, "WE"RE GONNA KILL YOU NIGGAS" as a warning to anti-Mugi voters
Unfortunately, there are not many quotations are could gather for either girl about the girls themselves without referencing the competing girls. That is why if you want to see what you and others are saying, be sure to sing your girl's praises in case she moves on to the quarterfinals.
To vote, please make one and only post with only the name of the girl you want to vote for within AnimeGirlConnisseur Baest's thread NOT SuperSnekFriend's Mugicha thread. (Tomoko or Tsumugi)
You may add an image to your vote post.
Poll closes at 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (-5 GMT)(UTC is for queers) and any vote post made after will not be counted.
You MAY repost or quote post this thread, though it's encouraged to boost the main tourney thread as well.
But please do not use this Baest thread for discussion. Use @SuperSnekFriend 's tourney threads on Mugicha Club instead.
No account made December 2023 or later will be counted.
With Samus being the Fedivere's best vidya girl and Korone and Tenma being the Fediverse's best chuubas, at long last, we enter the this war's main battles to determine the very simple question: Which anime girl deserves to be the Fediverse's Queen and Official Waifu?
=== MAY THE BEST GIRL WIN ===
This thread will have all the info, rules, data, and announcements going forward, including relevant data.
RURUS tl;dr
All polls start at 3 PM Eastern Standard Time (-5 UTC) and end the next at the same time. One user equals one vote.
Let me know about any issues.
Any ties will result in a one hour blitz poll right after the main poll closes.
Do not cheat or rig, like using alts to vote multiple times.
Do not threaten to cheat or to disturb the tournament.
Do not hate vote based on personal infighting, religion, or politics.
