There is a nice #A500#Amiga main board replacement project running which is #OpenSource have a look at it, esp if you are still running you Amiga software on the metal
I have the impression that the Amiga port of Monkey Island 2 could have been SO much better. Yes, the disk changes are annoying, but the whole performance is so slow! I played MI2 on a 12MHz 286 for the first time, which should be comparable to the A500. And it ran so much better, when ignoring the disk changes and floppy load times. Music was also much better if you had Adlib. #commodore#amiga#a500#monkeyisland
I also created a 'complete' archive, that combines the many different ones are out there that are all incomplete. It contains the full folder structure from the original archive, the latest GW binary with PPP support and a Gopher client, the source code, example configuration for PPP/SLIP, documentation, etc.
@neffo@troed@dukope I also carry a torch for the #Amiga, having grown up in #Commodore's backyard in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and owned an #A500. But both the #Workbench 1.x and 2.x-onward default red mouse pointers were garish. probably deliberately so to contrast with the TV-friendly background colors.
I’ve been working on the early revision 3 #Amiga500 some more. Put an original Amiga drive in it now (instead of the reworked PC drive I tried before). It sounds way more Amiga-like now and it even seems to load more disks. I call that a win. Final video of the series coming soon! #Commodore#Amiga#A500#RetroComputing#VintageComputing
@darth Love to see people finding joy in the same hardware that I used 40 years ago =)
I've still got my original #c64, as well as an #Ultimate64Elite that I actually use because it has HDMI out. Also kept my 2nd #A500 (sold the KS 1.2 red LED one in favour av a KS 1.3 green LED), as well as my very much non-working #A4000 that I wrote my final thesis on in the late 90s. One day I'll afford having that battery damage fixed!
