To millenials and Z gen:
Don't worry... don't buy CDs. You don't need them. Use #Spotify, #Deezer, #AppleMusic, #Youtube or any #streaming platform. 😈
Trust me, I know why I ask that.
Why does Apple Music continue to suck at suggesting music I might actually want to listen to? Maybe I have enabled some setting to make it obtuse, but it has to know by now what I listen to and what I never even bother with, and yet every time I launch the app it's just tons of whatever is most popular right now. Am I alone in this experience?
@danblondell@briankrebs This. My #AppleMusic personal station regularly falls into a rut of already favored tracks, but Discovery Station surfaces artists I’ve never heard (both new and catalog) and deep cuts from ones for whom I’ve only faved hits.
The weekly New Music Mix and Friends Mix playlists also help keep things fresh.
I love finding these seemingly random and obscure playlists on #AppleMusic. This week I learned about Jumpstart, which is basically a "best of" rock and alternative from the 90's to now. Lots of Cake, Green Day, Daft Punk, U2, Muse, Beck, Foo Fighters, etc.
It feels like walking through a Hot Topic in 2008 with a few recent hits sprinkled in, if that appeals to you as much as it does me!
Bought PlexPass and decided I would try Tidal again because they give Plex people a discount. Honestly I’ve been using it for 15min and already I much prefer how Tidal handles favorited artists/music over Apple Music. In that 15 min I’ve been able to find all the artists I listen to and more. Apple Music always seemed to obscure your favorites and it was much more difficult to find something to listen to without search. #Plex#Tidal#AppleMusic#PlexAmp
I'm also disheartened by #Spotify's continued #streaming dominance despite unfair compensation. I cringe every time I notice my #dance instructor cueing up playlists on the studio's music PC.
I want to drop music streaming services altogether and buy more music but there are a few major hurdles I face with this. Maybe y’all might have suggestions on how to make these easier. 🧵
For everyone on the iOS 17.3 beta, I’ve created an #AllThingsTech collaborative Apple Music playlist. Let’s create a killer list of music we can jam to while working, chilling, or anything.
Just another random Apple bug... this time with Music.
This song is actually from “Now That's What I call Country Music, Volume 5”. It's from 2012, but it has the album art for Eric Church's “Chief".
Granted, there is the song “Drink in my Hand" by Eric Church on the album, which does appear on the "Chief" album... but seriously, this is type of stuff that irritates customers and indicates some lack of attention to detail in their services.
My #AppleMusic#Replay is quite a mix. I wonder if I can tell Apple Music to keep track of what music I play in different contexts.
In the car with the kids, I choose a family-friendly pop station. So my top artists are Miley Cyrus (“Flowers”) and Harry Styles. They aren’t my favorites but they are the artists I played the most.
And during work I play spacey ambient music as background noise. I spend a lot of time listening to it but it isn’t my preferred music outside of that context.
