I’ve not watched #BigBrother in many many years - not since the first few years of it - yet I’ve just stopped flicking to watch it cos I really like #Nikita !
More "Are you absolutely sure you want to do that thing you chose to do, that I think you shouldn't be doing?" bullshit.
So now anything we choose to download is scanned and shared and compared against an index somewhere of downloads that are considered "safe" and "acceptable"? And anything not "acceptable" to the machine must be characterised with suspicion, as a dangerous threat?
IEEE Spectrum: "A New Olympics Event: Algorithmic Video Surveillance"... "This summer, at the Paris Olympic Games, security officials will perform a much bigger experiment in the heart of the City of Light, covering the events, the entire Olympic village, and the connecting roads and rails. It will proceed under a temporary law allowing automated surveillance systems to detect “predetermined events” of the sort that might lead to terrorist attacks.
I see from my conversations that people haven’t the vaguest idea just how much of what they THINK they know about #science is actually #slogans taught to them by #BigBrother, through operatives of the Ministry of Scientific Truth (such as the late Carl Sagan, the living Neil deGrasse Tyson, the ‘Impact Factor’ industry, etc.)
Such things as ‘Science is Self-Correcting’ are mere slogans. You do not actually KNOW it, do you? Show it, if so.
“While we worried that our doorbells and watches that connect to the internet might be spying on us, car brands quietly entered the data business by turning their vehicles into powerful data-gobbling machines.”
84% sell your data.
56% give data to law enforcement “on request.” (No court order required.)

Let's start the day off with our usual #MorningMoments so you all can tell me what your day will consist of today and what you have or hope to accomplish.
For me, just some work stuff as usual and then tonight the wife and I will be watching the season premiere of Big Brother Season 25 on CBS!
Covert Conservative strategy to install electronic surveillance in shops raises issues around bias and data, and contrasts sharply with the #EU ban to keep AI out of public spaces.

'Covert government strategy to install electronic surveillance in shops raises issues around bias and data, and contrasts sharply with the EU ban to keep AI out of public spaces'
#France#EU#Surveillance#Privacy#BigBrother: "Last month, the French parliament approved a controversial government plan to allow investigators to track suspected criminals in real-time via access to their devices’ geolocation, camera and microphone. Paris also lobbied in Brussels to be allowed to spy on reporters in the name of national security.
Helping France down the path of mass surveillance: a historically strong and centralized state; a powerful law enforcement community; political discourse increasingly focused on law and order; and the terrorist attacks of the 2010s. In the wake of President Emmanuel Macron’s agenda for so-called strategic autonomy, French defense and security giants, as well as innovative tech startups, have also gotten a boost to help them compete globally with American, Israeli and Chinese companies.
“Whenever there’s a security issue, the first reflex is surveillance and repression. There's no attempt in either words or deeds to address it with a more social angle,” said Alouette, an activist at French digital rights NGO La Quadrature du Net who uses a pseudonym to protect her identity."
The government “has dangerously blurred the lines between genuine disinformation and legitimate political dissent”.
‘The Green party MP Caroline Lucas has called for an inquiry into a government unit intended to combat disinformation after it emerged she had been flagged by it for criticisms of ministers and government policy over Covid.’
