Belgian photographer Harry Gruyaert is famous for his exploration of color. "Color is a way of sculpting what I see. Color doesn't illustrate a subject or the scene I'm photographing, it's a value in itself. It's even the emotion of photography," he says. Here are some of his most celebrated works, which will be on display in Paris's LE BAL gallery until September.
If you're in the #Portsmouth area and like art and would like to support a new venture, we're having an exhibition in September!

I visited the #VADTartan exhibition at the V&A Dundee a few days ago and was very impressed with the broad range of objects displayed as well as by the diverse stories and viewpoints expressed through the interpretative materials. Here is a small selection of garments that caught my eye.
This exhibition runs through Sunday, 14 January 2024.
“Artist/designer Kuang-Yi Ku and Prof Dr Henry de Vries, who specializes in sexually transmitted infections (STIs), pooled their knowledge and skills to challenge the medical patriarchy, heteronormativity and white Western dominance of anatomy education by constructing an ambiguous, uncertain, fluctuating anatomical system.”
“Where Were You In ’72?” This question was the catalyst for a #museum#exhibition I organized a few years ago. As well as inviting all the locals to share their #memories, I also asked some of my rock star friends to get involved. Here’s where Steve Harley from Cockney Rebel & singer/songwriter Alejandro Escovedo were in ’72…
Next up on our review of last year’s exhibition is @simonblackbourn . Simon’s Dartmoor work is mainly in black and white and in low light conditions giving his compositions a very moody and slightly haunted feel to them.
Visual artists wishing to be considered for exhibition will be invited to submit via our website from the 1st of June.
Why is Palantir sponsoring the Dimensions art exhibition in Leipzig?
"Palantir is a US-based data analytics company whose business model seems to be the pushing and exceeding of any ethical and legal boundaries that stand in the way of a fully “transparent humanity”. Some questions come to mind. What was the reasoning behind Palantir’s decision to sponsor the Dimensions exhibition in Leipzig? What exactly were the role of art impresario Walter Smerling and the association Foundation for Art and Culture e.V. (Bonn) which he heads, after his efforts were stifled in Berlin? What role do art, curators and artists play in such an exhibition?"
Folk tradition meets MOT centre. I popped into Libby Bovey’s small but brilliant exhibition in Bristol this week. If you’re into that sort of thing it’s well worth a look. On until 24th at BS1 6TJ.

My painting "The birds bring joy and solace" is finished! It's turned out rather cutesier than expected and bolder too, but it does express what I was trying to say, so that's a result!
Given the driech weather today, the birds on the feeders have brought us significant joy and interest. The flashes of the goldfinches' yellow wings in particular - and today greenfinches, too!
🧵3️⃣ Some views from Labour & Weight currently showing at the E-Gallery at MMU. It's a traveling exhibition of works that engages with generations-long craft traditions and people, and activates these traditions through installation, video and photography.
