In the eyes of most Iranians, it is the supreme leader and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards ( #IRGC ) who make major political and foreign policy decisions.
On #TheGlobalJigsaw we looked into the structure and role of the IRGC:

A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi suffered a “hard landing” on 19th May, Iranian state media reported, without elaborating. Some began urging the public to pray for Raisi and the others on board as rescue crews sped through a misty, rural forest where his helicopter was believed to be.
My view from the Helm this morning. I was hoping to set up a #GoPro with hyperlapse on one of the bow rails but I could not maintain a connection to control it from inside. I finally just set one up in front of me so I can more easily monitor it. It should be an interesting little video, if it works. I still can't believe I built a successful #YouTube channel with #helicopter videos relying on these freaking cameras.
#VietnameseSkyraiders rent the air with ferocious whines as they dive-bombed sections of the city, notably the #Chinese quarter of #Cholon, which was honeycombed with #VietCong. The planes sent #refugees scattering in all directions and plumes of smoke shooting into sunny skies that mocked the city's agony. In six of #Saigon's nine districts, 24-hour curfews were still in effect, meaning that those districts harbored at least small bands of #guerrillas still operating as units.
#USA#ARVN forces now supported by #helicopter#gunships began blasting #VietCong in the Racetrack's concrete stadium building with 106-mm recoilless rifle fire while also engaging them with machine gun and rifle fire. By late afternoon the VC abandoned the Racetrack, exfiltrating in three-man groups into the residential neighbourhood to the west, pursued by the Rangers and Republic of Vietnam National Police.
Today, we had a largish raid group of 11+ to take on an #OriginFormePalkia in - it turned out to be a good raid.
Just for fun, my strongest ditto was backing up my mega salamence who was in #1 position. Turns out that the ditto's shapeshift did not cancel out my salamance's mega form which was a happy surprise 😁
The experiences from conflicts like those in #Ukraine and the #Gaza Strip have impacted the utility of #CombatHelicopters. Their future role , particularly in reconnaissance, must evolve, incorporating #drones as forward observers or for marking targets, enhancing their survival odds.
Crap. I know one of the pilots who died in San Bernardino, and the other pilot is the brother of my son's co-worker. 🙏 #SanBernardino#Helicopter#aviation#RIP
