I’m playing Star Wars Jedi Survivor on PS5 and it’s such a frustrating experience:
• Great story, acting, animation, environment design
• Extremely STAR WARS
• Good gameplay—though at times frustrating
• Constant, frustrating graphical issues
EVERY time I play I see bright flashing white polygons, textures failing to load, environmental details popping in a meter away, and wildly inconsistent framerates. It’s the worst gaming experience I’ve had since… well, Jedi Fallen Order.
It breaks my suspension of disbelief every time; I’m constantly reminded that this is a poorly-optimized, over-rushed game put out by a publisher who couldn’t be bothered with quality control.
Why it’s especially frustrating to me is that I had this SAME experience with Fallen Order on PS4, and according to Reddit, anyone complaining is told they are crazy—it’s the most hardcore fan gaslighting I’ve ever seen.
Maybe I am just used to well-made PlayStation games like Horizon, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Spider-Man, Ratchet & Clank… basically all of my favorites?? They play beautifully without any of the issues I see here.
I’m happy I got it as a gift (and I know it was purchased during a good sale!), but sheesh. You’d think a YEAR after release it would not be this rough. And Reddit tells me “oh yeah they fixed that all with the update” which came out before I even started playing the game—I can assure you, if this is “fixed,” the game was COMPLETELY broken before.
The worst part: not a single “review” mentions any of the issues I and others see.
Oh, and yes, I have tried the two graphical modes, turning off a bunch of graphical features, disabling HDR, running it from the on-board storage vs. the expansion PCIe Gen 4 expansion SSD… but also, I play console games because I shouldn’t have to fiddle with all that shit.
And it doesn’t fix it, anyway. And again, other extremely beautiful, taxing games play perfectly fine out of the box—as they should.
This mirrors my experience with Jedi: Fallen Order, too, where I was appealed by how dogshit the game played on PS4. I assumed at the time the game was designed for PS4 Pro and just didn’t work as well on my PS4, but it looks like that’s just how this series is made. The quality standards aren’t just low, they’re subterranean.
Shame on the tech press for not calling this out, either.

Salut. Je t'encourage vraiment à terminer le jeu. À un moment donné on y croise Vador et on comprend réellement quelle est sa puissance et pourquoi les gens le redoute. Une scène assez époustouflante.
Et oui ce jeu a une BO assez extraordinaire. Dont "Sugaan Essena" de The Hu.
J'ai commencé sa suite #JediSurvivor récemment. On y commence sur Coruscant. La ville fourmille de détails, c'est très plaisant.
55.5 hours of what can only be described as "insanely variable rate framerates", finished #JediSurvivor on #steamdeck just in time to see how #Horizon#ForbiddenWest runs on it (not expecting miracles here, but since I already put in 100 hours on the PS4 version I don't need to be "wowed"; I just want to do the DLC they denied PS4 owners)
game's prerelease files are 98GB... why do they keep making games so damn huge?
niente per ora sono in un periodo #metroidvania, mi sono sparato #guacamelee2 e #JediSurvivor (che è a tutti gli effetti un metroidvania) e ho ricominciato per la quarta volta #hollowknight, consigli per farmelo piacere? Le altre volte che l'ho provato mi aveva infastidito il fatto che non potevo "parare" i colpi.
Got myself a job interview in just less than a month for a job I'm 99% sure I'm going to get. It's taking a long time but boy, will it be worth it.
#JediSurvivor is a bloody brilliant game. I have a fish tank and a garden and a lightsaber. What more could you want?
I did 20mins of "Audiobook Amble". I'm only allowed to listen to the book if I'm moving, so I got myself outside. 20mins seemed achievable. Now it's raining so it's fine to play Playstation again.

Started playing #StarWars#JediSurvivor , an Electronic Arts #videogame, on the #SteamDeck last night. My son finished it months ago but as I showed him how it looked on the Deck, I mentioned that I’d been playing games from EA for around 40 years.
He didn’t believe me so we looked up a list of EA games over time. Sure enough, 40 years on the dot. Archon, M.U,L.E., Dr. J v Larry Bird…1983 was a hot year for PC games!

This weekend I finished up my playthrough of #JediSurvivor and shared my relatively non-spoiler thoughts about the game. It is a sequence of amazing vignettes that are part of a fairly muddled storyline.
It is sometimes hard to move on after wrapping up a really phenomenal game... last night attempts were made with limited success to get back into the swing of #JediSurvivor
#starwars#jedisurvivor has a lot of cosmetics that unlock via gameplay instead of microtransactions which is shocking because it's an EA game. Then they add a glorious mullet + handlebar mustache making this game a strong 9.5/10 in my book. So powerful.
@gamingonlinux I've given up on Jedi Survivor, reading the reviews on #Steam, as of August 2023 the game was still in pretty broken state ... Might pick it up when it's on 75% sale couple of years from now ...

Galen Marek should not be re-introduced in #Ahsoka. In part because of Filoni’s mixed record (let’s be honest). But mostly because #Starkiller is better suited to #StarWars videogames than live-action. It makes more sense form a format and timeline position to feature him in something like a sequel to #JediSurvivor / #JediFallenOrder.
