What Nobody Tells You About Breast Cancer: The poet Anne Boyer lays bare the brutal realities in a Pulitzer Prize-winning book about her life with the disease that I write about in my latest story @medium.
Major publishers sent me hundreds of baseball books when I was the book critic for Glamour and later for Ohio's largest newspaper. I praise five that made it into my Hall of Fame at one of my favorite @medium publications, Beyond the Scoreboard.
Among them: Jim Bouton's inside-baseball classic, "Ball Four," and Kadir Nelson's "We Are the Ship," an award-winning celebration of the old Negro leagues:
@davidtoddmccarty We're all experiencing the same issues with @medium. I was wondering if @coachtony is aware of the situation. I hope so. I was also wondering if income is being impacted.
You seldom see strong fashion stories on @medium (a shame IMO, because we all wear clothes and they say so much about us). But the young Medium writer Jee Young Park show how well they can work in this story that defends the controversial 2024 MetGala by showing how much she valued the museum as a Korean-American growing up in New Jersey:
Why I prefer reading #GhostBlog blogs to #Medium and am looking forward to their #ActivityPub networking. I'm not sure if Medium authors remember this is the first impression that many of their blogs will see-- a good part of the page covered with a popover.
With regards to avoiding the tracking there's https://scribe.rip that you can replace a medium url with. You get a cleaned up version of the medium article then.
Unfortunately you cannot bypass restricted access articles that way.

One out of maybe 12 that I had to report … it does not reflect well on the #SEO industry and #Semrush. It does reflect very well on Medium, which took down misinformation posts very quickly.
The size of the Docker image could quickly increase during the build time. I became more mindful of the image size when I started to deploy on Github Actions. The bigger the image size, the longer the run time and the higher the runtime cost.
This is when you should consider using a multi-stage build 🚀.

You should consider moving your build to a multi-stage build when the build-required dependencies are no longer needed after the build is completed. A classic example is when building a binary application. Also, this is effective when setting up a dockerized Python environment using a virtual environment.
I'm trying to decide if Medium is still a viable place to grow my audience. Lately when I click on people's links I'm being taken to paywall pages (must be a member to read, not just logged in with my account), and I want to be sure I can set my material to be as widely read as possible.
But I know personally I'm starting to hesitate because it feels very pay walled.
I have two existing blogs there that have been dormant for a while.
To everyone using Medium to post your free articles: If the article requires me to login, I lost me. I won’t create an account and login to Medium for a free article. Sorry to a lot of you out there.
@denniskoch It is not so bad if they don’t lock the post. Several folks post there and the stories are easily readable without an account.
On the other hand, I don’t know the politics behind Medium, or why some posts are locked and some are not. Personally prefer to post on my own website, which is pretty lame and out of date… ¯_(ツ)_/¯
