#Canada should legalize #mace and other self-defense #weapons like #guns. Self-defense is legal in Canada, but you can't own something that's specifically for self-defense against another human. They have bear mace, though.
For additional context, if you're a legal, registered owner of firearms in Canada, using them to defend your home is an extremely dicey proposition. You can end up with a bunch of firearms charges even if you don't injure anyone - or even fire it. Careless storage of a firearm, improper carrying, brandishing, threatening...
There's no #duty to #retreat, but if it's possible, then standing your ground and hurting someone is likely to end up with criminal charges.
