Battery electric cars take a market share of 83%, so far this year. Gasoline and diesel down to 4% together.

@Sustainable2050 so why tf is the Norwegian state funding the new North Sea oil field?

We had about 50 people at the protest outside the NSTA (North Sea Transition Authority), formally Oil & Gas Authority, the 'regulator' which 'approved' the Rosebank oil field development.

Hope all the other protests went well and. None of this is going to change by voting, everyone needs to organise and get out into the streets!

So the pace of climate breakdown and heating in particular is accelerating, it probably has something to do with clouds, and we'll probably hit 1.5°C next year. This is set to be the most anomalous month on record, following the last two most anomalous months in July and August.

The UK gov have of course expanded fossil fuel extraction.

Our systems of power and consumption are getting us killed and we're not acting like it. I am so scared.

Also, on , some years ago I heard an industry pundit suggest that Statoil, now , might be one of the first oil firms to become a non-hydrocarbons energy company. Clearly that won't happen till we hit 3 or 4 degrees, if ever.

The takes yet another step on the path to the dark side.

“We have today approved the Rosebank Field Development Plan which allows the owners to proceed with their project."

Which begs the question: WHO is it, exactly, that owns fossil fuels under national waters? And who will pay for the various kinds of mess caused by the drilling?

"Climate campaigners have launched two separate legal challenges to government plans to open a massive new oilfield in the North Sea.

Campaigners say the UK public will carry almost all the cost of developing the field, while ’s owners are set to receive around £3bn in tax breaks. And they claim the project will not cut household energy bills, as the oil sold on the world market would make no material difference to the price UK consumers pay."
