I kinda hate the #RoyalFamily but the issue is now worth talking about because of what it says about media and the public's ability to be manipulated. The question was is #KateMiddleton ok cause she had surgery and this normally very public person hasn't been seen in public for a while. But now everybody is instead talking about the photo and her editing it instead. We don't know if any of the photo is real and still haven't seen her in public, but they changed the subject and nobody noticed.
The Kate Middleton photo scandal has been front-page news for hundreds of years (or that's the way it seems). @verge's Mia Soto explores what this PR misfire means for the U.K. royals, and how it reflects society's AI-influenced new reality, "a maelstrom formed when distrust and established processes converge and create chaos." How interested are you in this latest royal mess?
The majority of respondents to this poll — 81% — are not even slightly interested in the Kate Middleton photo flub, with just 3% admitting to having fallen down the rabbit hole. Some commenters pointed out that doing a little digital clean-up of photos is perfectly normal, and that the media have blown this out of proportion, while others say that they're enjoying the memes. @FionaCraig's interest comes from semi-professional curiosity as a person who used to work with a PR company. "It's as if Kensington Palace put the PR team on furlough and are having a go at it themselves. Just sitting open mouthed, shovelling popcorn in." Now, some non-royal celebrities have started weighing in. “I was out. I thought, ‘Let’s all just ignore this we’ve moved on,’ until the photoshop thing,” John Oliver told Andy Cohen. “That feels, like, you’re almost handling badly in an impressive way at this point.” Oliver went on to float a "Weekend at Bernies" theory.
The Mother's Day picture of Kate Middleton and her children sparked speculation over the weekend after it was revealed the photo had been photoshopped. It's left fans wondering about the princess's health following her abdominal surgery in January. @theverge has the details.
So let me get this straight over the current state of affairs with #TheMonarchy. In this "great value for money" institution:
Kingie is on sick leave. Fair enough, I suppose.
Queen Cammie is taking some duvet days.
Wills and Kate are on joint sick leave.
Harry is... the less said the better.
Handsy Andy is...still at large.
Which leaves us with one "working" royal left with Anne who is doing it all.
