Some impressions from today’s visit to Hallstatt in Upper Austria. The scenery was as grand as ever, but the place is plagued by overtourism to an extent that is almost as bad as in Kyoto. 🤒

Day trip today to Soumenlinna, the inhabited sea fortress about 4 km southeast of the city center of Helsinki. Weather was perfect, and the place very interesting - a really pleasant area for walking.

It’s beautiful to see how a few days of rain can turn a dried out creek into a small river with ​s.

The water searches its way down small waterfallls.
The biggest waterfall in the area. It dries out more and more often.

More photos taken around the Castle Museum of Saginaw County History, featuring the hallway, spiraling staircase, a model of a carousel, statue of Abraham Lincoln, an early 20th Century car, post office, and my favorite area: A reconstruction of the Myer Bros. Jewelry Store (1914-1974) which I believe is still the original cabinets, along with some photos of some wares. Shot in June 2023.
