UK net migration has more than doubled from pre-Brexit levels.
On the eve of the 2016 Brexit referendum annual net migration to the UK had risen to an unprecedented high of 336,000 — fuelling demands from supporters of Brexit to “take back control of our borders”.
This week, analysts expect new estimates to show net migration rose to at least double that level last year — largely the result of government policy choices.
The weather here has been poor this year, with low moth numbers. Here's one from exactly a year ago - a Pale Tussock. I particularly like it because it has the same fur colouring as Archie. 🙂
All moths are attracted to harmless UV light, recorded on the Sussex and UK databases, & safely released.
I usually follow back, & really appreciate boosts.
A Russian soldier tells the story of how he got captured: he and his fellow soldiers were drinking, he wanted more and went to exchange his ration for alcohol. Got lost, got captured.

A maybe-forgotten gem worth adding to your watch-list.
I'm not sure I fully understand all the ins & outs of what happened in the backstory between Carole Cadwalladr & Aaron Banks, but this decision seems likely to have bad knock-on effects.
'How the 35-year-old Weed Smoker Behind 10 Million Scam Calls Made His Fortune' - Long-time Slashdot reader SpzToid shared this story from the Telegraph:
I am not sure how we can try and solve the current training situation, not everyone wants to do full time accredited courses, for intro level stuff just make it fun and then take it from there perhaps
My current suitation is that I am looking for more hours, I am currently employed by an agency only there doesn't seem to be much in ther way of Teaching Assistant work in Torbay, there is, |I am just not getting any.
I am also running Code Club and a STEM group on a volunteer basis. I really see a gap in the market to teach basic coding to adults (or parents so they can keep up with the kids) however as there is a shortage ofpeople in certain technical roles, we should be trying to reach out to them.
Talking to some of the parents, it seems some of the computing curriculum teaching is not happening in primary schools, oddly canm use scratch, know some basic python, can do basic electronics, add LEDs to Raspberry Pi, Arduino and have used Micro:bits so running a code club for either kids or adults on a paid basis can't be that difficult.
So happy to try and collaborate with anyone in the #UK for the moment, who works / involved with say #CyberSecurity, to see if we can find ways to teach people the essential skills. The courses are out there anyway so just a case of putting people in touchj and providing a place for people to study online courses perhaps.
Perhaps get actual hands on experience with the Linux command line or perhaps Kali linux and related tools would be also good. We could do that at Paignton Library, I am sure I don't need to be a teacher for this, more of a facilitator to provide a place for people to study.
We need people with technical skills for future jobs.
