"Cubistic Monolith" for

This is El Capitan (To-tock-ah-noo-lah), the giant granite monolith dominating the western end of Yosemite Valley. I liked how it looked almost cubistic, bathed in late October morning light against a clear blue sky. It is estimated that this rock is 100 million years old. Photographed in October 2023.

Clouds Over the Valley

So many time I've gone to the valley. So many times I've seen a clear blue sky as I round the turn just before this turnout in the road. So many times I've pulled over here and taken pictures that are beautiful, yet they look just like everyone else's.

Mariposa Grove

There are a couple of groves of Redwoods in Yosemite National Park and Mariposa Grove near the south entrance is one of them.

Dogwood Dream

In the spring time the dogwoods along the Merced River bloom in large white flowers and the river serves a wonderful backdrop for these beautiful flowers.
This image of the dogwoods has been enhanced to pull the colors out of these flowers and to put it into a frame that is surreal.

Three Brothers

It's late autumn in Yosemite and life is slowing down in the valley. This has been a dry summer and the rains have come late to the valley.

Reflecting on Yosemite
I love this view of Yosemite Valley. This was captured in late fall along the Merced River. The river is running slow with barely a ripple.
The rock formation center left is known as Washington Column. Washington Column rises almost 1800 feet above the valley.
