This photo captured my attention this morning. Think it spoke to my roots, “Piping at a wedding in Iona, Cape Breton” by Iain MacHarg was awarded as the consolation winning image in Wiki Loves Folklore 2024 - the Wikimedia Foundation.

Studies don't support more police making a place safer!

In addition, in Policing Black Lives, Robyn Maynard points out that more police in the community creates more opportunities for police to harass, surveil, and disrupt Black, Indigenous, and other over-policed communities.

The news just letting people say "More police makes people feel safer, so this is a good thing" is basically propaganda.

I used to sit outside and watch the fuzzy caterpillars crawl along my grandmother's fence in the fall, as they traveled from tree to tree. In all of those years, I don't think I ever saw a banded tussock moth's larva. So, to see a dozen or more of them on parade after the rains cleared up was a surprising sight. I'd never really used my macro lens before, so it seemed like an interesting opportunity.

I'm glad a few of the pics turned out

OC Banded Tussock Caterpillar (pixey.org)

Every fall in Cape Breton the tussock moth caterpillars make their appearance, and this past weekend they put on a real show for me. A dozen banded tussocks marched back and forth across the banister at my uncle's house as post-tropical storm Lee passed us by, giving me an opportunity to try out my macro lens. #CapeBreton...

Good morning @evelynefoerster
We were looking at your Mountain Trails, so I found mine to show you.. We took a trip to Cape Breton Island, in my last OLD RV Camper, with two cats (then) and stayed at the Provincial Park https://parks.novascotia.ca/park/whycocomagh in area.
The towns, Cabot Trail and Beaches are all around, it was central for us explorers.
A little lead-in.. Avoid 100 series highways in . They are for speed, not scenery or culture. Here's the only highway we had to cross

Now that the farmer's field has been mowed,
A white cat, lays on a wood block cover, over the propane stove inside the RV Camper I am driving. The cats travel nicely with us in an RV, picking their favorite resting areas. Indifferent about the hay fields.

There's no real way to communicate what I saw, what you are missing, and why you aren't planning your trip already? ◄ The scenic side of . You should come?
@evelynefoerster

The view at the top, over the Bras D'Or lakes.. We were just in Cape Breton two weeks ago, but I'd go right back for a few more days here.
This isn't a helicopter ride, save your money and your strength, we're legging this adventure
