Looking for Toshiba L50utils.exe - laptop pcmcia drivers for Windows 95. It is long gone from the Toshiba website. Anybody with a floppy with this on or know where to find a copy?
I tried to write a #floppy for my #C64 using my #XUM1541 and my 1541-II drive. Somehow, it seems to have problems halfway through.
Could this be an issue with the floppy disk itself, or the XUM1541? Happens with both my 1541-II, so they shouldn't be the issue.
Are there test programs for C64 that fully write a floppy disk?

It stops writing at 70% according to #CBMTransfer without returning an error. #fedihelp#retrocomputing#Commodore
After getting the #Commodore#C64 and #C128 running again, the next device to repair is the #C1571.
It had #corrosion and #rust on the main board and the power supply is beyond repairworthiness. I'd replace the latter with a #meanwell RD-35 with 5 and 12 volt output.
One #diode was rusty, a few traces needed #cleaning and five #resistor looked bad. Hope the black hybrid chip is still okay.
Sadly, the lower read head seems to be broken, my work might've been in vain. #floppydrive#retrocomputer
Some progress with the #Commodore#VC1541 - I added the reset bodge, socketed a few logic chips, and turned it on.
At first, the drive was spinning constantly, but all the logic signals looked fine, including the reset signal.
I then swapped the 6502 from a working 1541-II, and it worked again.
Now, I have a few mechanical issues. An inserted #floppy is thrown out again most times, and the tray doesn't latch in closed position easily. #retrocomputing#Alps#floppydrive#repair
🧼💾 An unused cleaning kit for 5.25'' and 3.5'' disk drives. The liquid, we fear, may have evaporated by now. There's also the question of whether the material in the cleaning disks is still in a condition that we'd dare bring it into contact with the drive head 😅
I finally got my hands on a USB floppy drive so I could test these! #Free to a good home: Nine Verbatim high density floppies, one Maxell high density floppy, one 3M high density floppy, and two Fujifilm high density floppies. 😀 💾 💾 💾 💾 #RetroComputing#Floppy#Disk#VintageComputer
:computerfairies: San Francisco's light rail to upgrade from floppy disks | The Register
"And before folks start panicking, it's worth remembering that use of floppy disks is not uncommon in embedded systems. Bear in mind that the US nuclear arsenal ran off eight-inch floppies until 2019. It's the way stuff was done when these systems were built last century.
Upgrading San Francisco's public transit IT will be a lengthy and costly effort"
We've selected and cleaned up 2 beautiful PCs from around 1998 for rental to the TV production house. 🤩 (* We noticed and straightened the covers of the 5.25'' slots after taking the photos 😎)
In 1993, a collection of five iconic arcade games was released by Microsoft for Windows 3.1. "Microsoft Arcade" included Asteroids, Battlezone, Centipede, Missile Command and Tempest.
