Hiking on a #cinderCone I could hear the mountain "breathe" - distinct low booms every minute or so, as if hungry. The landscape there is eerie black with #birch#tree forests in stark contrast. I stayed late in the evening for a light show of lava and hot boulders.
Ah, nothing like a creepy, misty landscape to get the ol' blood pumping. I'm sure those ancient, ominous stone cliffs are totally harmless though. Just like that last can of expired beans. What's the worst that could happen?
For this #WaterfallWednesday I have Bridal Veil Falls in Bridal Veil Falls Provincial Park near Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. There used to be a viewing platform closer to the falls but there is enough rock and ice falling here at times I guess they decided to remove it. More photos from a different angle here:
When Albert Bierstadt painted Rocky Mountain Landscape in 1870, he had not seen the Rockies for seven years. He worked from studies made in 1863, during his second trip to the West. In Rocky Mountain Landscape the shopworn adjectives "spellbinding" and "breathtaking" regain their identity, conveying the awestruck wonder the artist induces in the viewer.
I’ve been using landscape photos from my travels as desktop backgrounds for years now and decided to share with the FediFamily. I’m posting 1 picture per week. This week I'm staying close to home, as there is a fabulous heathland mere kilometers from here that I love to visit on my cycling trips. This picture was taken about a month before peak heather flowering season, I'll try and remember to take a better picture this year. #Landscape#Photography
