#EU report finds that #journalists & #media outlets in #Serbia face pressure, intimidation, harassment, & attacks. Meanwhile, the wider media market is distorted by a lack of transparency of media ownership & state financing. Via @globalfreemedia
I thought news organizations reported the news, not "made the news". Does not bode well for media coverage of the 2024 election.

Chris Licht to CNN staffers re: the Town Hall: "You do not have to like the former president's answers, but you can't say that we didn't get them," Licht tells staffers, many of whom are angry about the town hall. "Kaitlan pressed him again and again and made news. Made a LOT of news." And "that is our job."
CNN's Trump town hall wasn't journalism. It was entertainment, maybe? (If you find that sort of thing entertaining.)
It's a sad omen of what Axios called the 2024 "trust-nothing election," where voters continue to believe only the info that fits their world view, and where AI is about to unleash a mighty new stream of misinformation.
CNN deserves all the blowback it's getting but let's not overlook the fact that the entire political press decided to treat #Trump spewing the same bullshit that he posts every single day as a major news event. They're all guilty of the same thing #CNN is getting roasted for, even if to a somewhat lesser degree.
> [The baboon] called it a “rigged election” and a “shame” before Collins cut him off,

She "corrected" his "lies". Any US network/paper match that directness?
#Trump has said nothing new whatsoever since late 2019, when he read the polls and started claiming the election was being rigged. I don’t know why anyone would want to watch him regurgitate that crap as Katie Collins futilely tries to fact-check him. #cnntownhall seems like a snooze fest.
Yet I see lots of journos live-tweeting it like it’s a news event. As if cnn isn’t giving him a wide enough audience for his blather. They can’t quit him. #media
With #CNN set to air a town hall with Trump tonight, just a day after being found liable of sexual assault and defamation, a reminder of just how our current legacy #media landscape leans from the always spot on, @parkermolloy
"Putting a microphone and three cameras on Trump as if he were just another candidate and not an instigator of the violent disruption of American democracy and leader of a conspiracy to overthrow the results of a national election is the height of journalistic irresponsibility."
To anybody who ever deals with #media: more than a third of journalists--and 46% of science/tech journalists--are now freelancers, so don't be confused or surprised when someone who writes for multiple outlets and is self-employed is trying to set up an interview. #journalism
I'm dealing with my dying mother's financials. After years of giving her money every month for food and utilities, I've just discovered she's been donating thousands of dollars each year to a few viable charities and even more GOP PACs that she believed were charities helping veterans and young people in need. She's a Democrat. She had no idea what she was giving her money to and now I'm having to undo all of those automated debits. Check on your elder parents. Someone is probably scamming them.
Dear #media… please take a look at this thread. This is a story. So many seniors are being scammed out of their life savings. Look at the #reporting of scammers defrauding seniors on just this thread.
What is being done to protect them? Seems like a reasonable question deserving of some answers from our lawmakers and law enforcement.
