My experience with #mobian so far on the #Librem5 compared to #PureOS Byzantium:

  • Most applications run much faster
  • The repository is obviously much more up to date
  • The modem wakes up much slower for incoming phone calls while in suspend. Some of the phone calls were not shown in the UI at all.
  • The micro SD Card reader has similar issues with suspend as with PureOS. Sometimes after supend the card can not be read anymore.

But right now I really love @mobian it is impressively snappy ❤️

Ok seems like I just fucked up (my fault) Pure OS on my #Librem5 which was pre installed on the phone. So I will install a fresh #Linux distribution. What is your opinion: Should I use #PureOS again because it (maybe) works best or should I try #Mobian ? Has anyone tested them recently?

To offer proper privacy protection it means to default to complete privacy protection and put all the power into the hands of the product owner, this also means to be able to verify that the code does not infringe upon the privacy rights of the user by releasing all the source code.

If you're at @cactuscon and always wanted to try a #Librem5 phone running stock #pureOS or a #pinephone pro running @postmarketOS #PlasmaMobile, hit me up!

I should be onsite and mostly in the Career Village or one of the social areas from 2:30pm onwards, but am more than happy to dash about give folk a taste of #LinuxMobile

I don't work for Purism, Pine64, nor postmarketOS, I just noticed there's maybe an unmet demo interest and happen to have the HW while I'm at this hacker con

Hey friends! Someone just asked me at the @Mastodon booth at - what are good Mastodon client apps for a Linux mobile OS such ? I would love to hear about them (and get them listed on our website).

purism, to linuxphones

It’s not just the Librem 5’s or The Liberty Phone hardware that’s modular. The OS itself is incredibly modular and fully editable to your will. Our defaults and preinstalled apps are well thought out and secure, but it’s just our suggestion of software to use, not a requirement by any means.

  3. Do you use Waydroid (or another way to run Android apps)?
  4. What apps do you miss? (Do they keep you from daily driving?)
  5. Which #MobileLinux distro/OS do you use?
  6. Should we add more questions and what would be your answer?

Certainly old news for some, but a pleasant surprise for me... has made reflashing on the with LUKS encryption ridiculously easy. Just put the phone in flash mode and run these 4 commands in Terminal:
sudo apt install git python3-jenkins python3-tqdm uuu
git clone https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/librem5-flash-image.git
cd librem5-flash-image
sudo ./scripts/librem5-flash-image
Set the LUKS passphrase on first boot, change the user password, and you're off!

Today marks two years that I have been using a mainline linux phone exclusively.

I went from a @PINE64 OG Pinephone with @mobian to a from @purism with , to finally the same Librem 5 with Mobian.

That Librem5 has survived several drops and a few assassination attempts from nephews.

It's been a fun journey so far! I created 4 FOSS apps, contributed to several others, and use quite a bit more.

NEW:

(Technically, this is a modified mirror, since Codeberg does not support forking non-Codeberg git repos)

I'll try to keep changes in sync between my Mobile-Friendly-Firefox and my mobile-config-firefox repos.

@user0@fedia.io avatar

Major Update:

  • Added to install and uninstall scripts

    • Support for Librewolf, Mullvad, and Tor browsers

I have not tested Mobile-Friendly-Firefox with these browsers yet, as I am waiting for official arm64 releases before installing them onto my Librem 5. While I think that everything should work, anyone can share issues here on the fediverse, on my Mobile-Friendly-Firefox repo, or on my forum thread. I'll try to check all three from time to time so I don't miss anything.

Minor Update:

  • Added to install and uninstall scripts

    • Support for Librewolf flatpak

I have tested and confirmed that it works perfectly.
