We had a talk with our 7yo who is learning to read but still feels it quite difficult. Both of us parents #read all the time but turned out she does not see us reading books that much.
I read news mainly on a tablet every morning, and have a pile of books next to my bed.
My spouse reads and researches a lot but mainly behind a closed door or after kids go to bed.
What was missing from the picture is us reading novels - the actual books - during the day where the can see it.
I finished How to Hide an Empire and I didn't think I could be more disgusted with the U.S., but I am. And I even already knew a lot of what was in the book.
Finally getting back to writing Book 5 of The Silk Rope Masters. It's slowly coming together - all those green lines mean I'm happy with the chapter for the time being.
I had hoped it would have been completed by now but Cancer stuffed up my progress. I'm still trying to get used to the many side effects from radiation and drug therapy.
If you missed Ronald McGillvray's big birthday book giveaway this past weekend, you should still check out, buy, and read his stuff. Worth every penny, and every moment of your time. Give him a follow and get ready for his next release!
Click, Camp, Act, Clash, Crunch, and Break by Kayla Miller- a graphic novel series for middle grade readers. I #read as #audiobook The Subtle Knife by Phillip Pullman (#book 2/His Dark Materials). I did enjoy the HBO Max series but I think I will always love the #books best. Lyra meets Will and they continue a quest to understand Dust. Or, you know, their fathers, the Holy Spirit, the Authority, and themselves. #reading@bookstodon https://amzn.to/3OlSEpL
#CurrentlyReading I Am Still Alive by Kate Alice Marshall, young adult fiction
This book is really good so far. It is billed as Hatchet meets The Revenant. I have always been fascinated by people living in the Yukon and this book has it all. The MC has to survive in the wilderness with her dog after her dad is killed. No one except one person knows where she is and they won't be back for 8 months.
Good writing & a story you’re interested in. A novel idea, I know, but in this day & age we are all but told who & what we should be reading. Don’t listen, read what & who you enjoy.
Below are a stack of books by Richard Russo, who I think is an incredible writer. You may totally disagree & that’s 100% alright with me. #books#photography#read#booktoot@bookstodon
The Adventures of Sophie Mouse series by Poppy Green and illustrated by Jennifer A. Bell is a very cute beginning chapter book series. Recommended for ages 6-8. If you're looking for an easy chapter book for the littles in your life, this series is an excellent pick.
