Hey, actually #amwriting this morning. It's been more than a minute. My WIP #shortfilm is a standalone film but also serves to suggest a huge #scifi scenario below the surface. Currently wrestling with what that iceberg tip looks like. How much do I need to show? How much can the audience infer? #screenwriting#sciencefiction#TheOriginalCopy

“The best stories involve us and then make us think afterward and reflect on what they say about us as humans and as a society.”
This is a devastating account of what it's really like to be a Hollywood screenwriter. You can be a Cambridge graduate, an award winner, and the creator of a TV series on Hulu - and still work as a caterer and depend on welfare to make ends meet....
Worker/artist owned cooperative — with distribution, to tell their own stories. Images below.
Workers, writers, and artists start a cooperative production company
They license/option existing stories to the company (which they own together!) and put stories on a website where audiences can access them
Stories can be scripts, treatments, readings, storyboards — it's great material in those formats, and people will dive into those stories just the same
Share the website (distribution!) with followings, along with a way to subscribe
You now have a worker/writer/artist owned cooperative, with distribution, stories, and an audience!
More details in the images below, made as a guide/resource to be helpful.
Most #screenwriting rules are geared towards #Hollywood-style productions — which makes a lot of sense. And most Hollywood films are between 90 and 120 minutes long, which is the same number for pages of a #screenplay (one page = one minute). So, #screenwriters are told to write 90 to 120 pages. But I find myself often drawn to much longer films. Currently, I'm rewatching a four hour film for the third time. As one might expect, it's not a Hollywood #film.
It took me a long, long time to learn how to give and to take creative notes. There should be a required class on this subject taught by experts! It would have saved me a lot of grief, and it would have made me a lot more likable in my chosen career! Or at least less UN-likable!
(And, to be sure, goodness knows there are people out there you absolutely would NOT want teaching such a class!!!) #Writing#ScreenWriting#Filmmaking#Art
About time I pinned an #introduction. I'm Lironah, aka Joan Albright (pen name) - published author, produced screenwriter, lifetime #gamer and aspiring #GameDev.
This #ShortFilm explores the love we have for animals, the tension between urbanization and nature, and the connection to all life on Planet Earth that we must cultivate in order to survive the impending #ClimateEmergency.
Congrats to all the quarter-finalists, and here's to more #ClimateStorytelling !
I’m an experienced screenwriter - and I’m also on welfare. My story highlights the importance of the writers’ strike (www.fastcompany.com)
