[…] Years after leaving her Palestinian village to pursue an acting career in France, Hiam Abbass (#Succession) returns home with her daughter, filmmaker Lina Soualem, in this intimate documentary about four generations of women and their shared legacy of separation.
Made it to episode 4 of #Succession and honestly... I'm done. I have to see enough rich people doing shitty things just on the daily news. And the "plot intrigue" is really boring and stretched out. If you love this show, honestly I'm happy for you, it's fine for different people to like different things... But I'm going to try a different show I've always heard a ton about but never seen. Maybe It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia? Or The Wire?
Man, #Succession. It’s a good show, but at the end, I just have zero sympathy for any of the characters. It just makes me dislike the “business psychos” even more. I know people like this IRL, and they are delusional. I can’t imagine living like that and inviting so much unnecessary drama into your life.
That was close, but Brian saved himself in my image by telling the #Newsnight audience to "fuck off" 👏
I haven't watched #Succession or #LoganRoy but I would watch the Murdochs being put to a firing squad along with the rest of the abusive criminal organisations (mainly corporations) that have helped ruin Britain, much of the West, and the prospects for our children.
Rupert Murdoch is turning over control of the Fox empire to his son, Lachlan Murdoch. I feel like I’ve seen this show before. Something about Logan Roy and his ever-capable and trusted son, Kendall? I imagine this will go about as smoothly.
2023 was the year I started watching "television" again, and I liked an AWFUL lot of what I saw. But I want ALL the #Emmys to go to #TheLastOfUs. On the surface it felt like Not My Thing (I dislike both action and horror in my teevee), and I only watched it at all because it was filmed here. But it instead turned out to be the story of a developing non-romantic relationship within the most fully realized post-apocalyptic universe I've seen on screen (and neither that scary nor that action-y). /1
And if I can't get my wish on that (and let's be real, this was also the year of the last season of #Succession, which was also very good, so I suspect the number of #Emmys that are up for grabs are limited), I at LEAST want the third episode of #TheLastOfUs to get every single Emmy that IT is nominated for. Because distilling the show's core themes down to its basics by focusing on a different relationship was so genius, and the realization of that relationship was so gorgeously done. /2
