Y'all. The most petty political move happened today at my #vampirethemasquerade#LARP, and I'm technically the reason why it happened.
Context first: I play an Anarch that works at a radio station in a Camarilla domain of the city controlled by an elder Toreador. Prior to the Toreador's acquisition of the domain, my character struck a deal with one of the local Cam Lasombra to ensure the station would be protected if things ever went to hell, and they could continue their work.
Can't play the really bad guys. Sabbat and True Black Hand are all but gone. The Setites and "Giovanni" are toned down. No Paths.
The "non-core" clans and disciplines have all been homogenized. Combining Obtenebration and Necromancy into Oblivion... not a fan. The unique flavors are missing.
Changing Blood Pool to Hunger seems over-complicated.

Been a busy few days, finally managed to make the old clan symbols for my Vampire the Masquerade chokers, They will be available to be bought later this week, not sure when exactly as of yet. They turned out cute, full photo is on my ko-fi!
You know how in the early 2000s, a lot of PC games got sequels on consoles, and players complained that they removed complexity from the game to make it work on consoles? This feels like that. I don't see anything here about quests, skills, character sheets, or different ways to solve problems depending on your character's...
So, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is going to have Banu Haqim, Brujah, Tremere, and Ventrue at release.
This means that all release clans will have 1 unique discipline, and two that are shared with two of the other clans.
It does make sense from a development perspective, since all 4 release clans get the same amount of work put into them, but it also means that Toreador and Malkavian will be DLC, and Lasombra and Tzimisce will probably not happen.
I tried to suss out what the obvious villain was planning. I botched, so the Storyteller forced me to find her unshakekably trustworthy for the rest of the sessions.
It was hilarious to play, but it was an otherwise serious adventure...

I bought a deck in 1995 when it came out. I still have it and it is my favorite deck. It's been my deck of choice since I bought it. I even preferred it over my Rider-Waite-Smith deck and, when I went through my hyper-Christian blow-back phase, it's the one deck I couldn't bring myself to toss out.
Bad news: I damaged two of the cards while doing a reading. I dropped them and tried to catch them with my legs which creased them down the middle. They are now both unusable in readings because they stand out.
I am aware that you can order reprints from places like DriveThruRPG but those are slightly different cards on different cardstock. The original designs were lost in a fire, I think, so these are more like scanned reprints.
Does anyone, anywhere have the original deck or just the two cards I damaged and would be willing to sell them to me?
I only included a photo of the back of one of the cards since the crease is the same on both of them.
I know it's a bit silly to be so enamored of a novelty deck like this, but I played a lot of World of Darkness mostly Vampire and Mage with a bit of Werewolf. I had the book for Changeling and the supplement for Mummy, but we didn't play them much. A friend of mine had Wraith but we never got into that at all.
I still have all my books downstairs actually, mostly 1st editions save for Vampire which is 2nd edition now.
On this day 19 years ago, Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines was released!
(Also, a little game called Half-Life 2; a detail which is more than mere coincidence.)

@PapyPolca Ah, j'ai en tête mon JDR de prédilection, #VampireTheMasquerade Le livre de règle stipule à plus d'une reprise quelque chose qui se résume ainsi, la règle d'or selon eux :
"Au fait, n'hésitez pas à changer toutes les règles qui ne vous plaisent pas, à tout transformer, à adapter, c'est pas un soucis. Ce qui compte dans ce jeu, c'est l'histoire avant tout, les règles ne sont qu'un canevas pour expliquer comment évoluer dans cet univers"

I've never played it before. #ttrpg folks, what should I know about this game? I'm kinda not crazy about the concept, and 🐢 has had kind of uneven experiences with playing it, but I'm all about trying any games I get the chance to.
So, if you've played it, what elements do y'all like about it? How should I approach it to have the most fun with it?
Mein erstes RPG war DSA, überarbeitete 4. Edition, ca. 2008. Wir haben das in der Familie (meine Eltern und mein Bruder) ausprobiert. Hat überhaupt nicht funktioniert. Die Regeln waren viel zu kompliziert und das Abenteuer ("Im Reich des Flussvaters" oder so) hat auch nicht direkt richtig losgelegt.
Naja, eine zweite Session gab es dementsprechend nicht. Rollenspiel war für mich erst Liebe auf den zweiten Blick, Jahre später.

Given that I have 634 unplayed games in my Steam account and {mumble} unredeemed bundle Steam keys, there's a reason my unplayed collection is tagged "Pile of Shame".
I'll pin this to my profile, and give a brief summary here each day (or x, if I miss x days due to work or stuff).
I'll play 15-30 minutes of (at least) one new game I've never played before (or played less than 15 minutes of). I'll give every game at least 15 minutes, even if I hate every minute of it.
I'm also open to suggestions; if you reply to this thread with a game, I'll schedule it, or tell you what I thought of it.
One of the things that's come up is that I have a bunch of games that I've played once, and not touched again.
My sole exposure to Vampire: The Masquerade prior to playing Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York was playing Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt is a third-person battle-royale with vampires.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York is... not.
I thought all of the early reading was setting up for the gameplay, but it was taking quite a long time, and then I was faced with a decision, which was - apparently - the wrong decision, because immediately afterwards I was met with a Game Over.
So I started over, discovered that seemingly all of the narrative "choices" in the initial setup lead to exactly the same point of decision, made the opposite decision and... more story.
After a while, because I'd hit the wee hours of this morning, I decided to pull the pin, and looked up the game, and... oh. Right.
It's actually a visual novel, something of a "Choose Your Own Adventure" based on the Vampire: The Masquerade TTRPG, which I also learned of last night.
So, if you're a fan of visual novels, and Choose Your Own Adventure (TM), and the Vampire: The Masquerade TTRPG, this might be right up your alley.
Admittedly, the story did end up being kind of interesting, but this is actually a sequel to an earlier visual novel (Coteries of New York) for which I have an unused key, so might read that first.
