I got my Kickstarter PDF copies of Tales of the Valiant from @KoboldPress. I am hoping this will replace #DnD5e for me. I cannot wait to ready the final version.

Can't play the really bad guys. Sabbat and True Black Hand are all but gone. The Setites and "Giovanni" are toned down. No Paths.
The "non-core" clans and disciplines have all been homogenized. Combining Obtenebration and Necromancy into Oblivion... not a fan. The unique flavors are missing.
Changing Blood Pool to Hunger seems over-complicated.
@artemis In my experience, Camarilla was almost a default in older editions. If you played anything else, it is because it is part of the campaign. Anarchs were either closeted or active in ousting the Camarilla. Playing Sabbat is rather tricky; no Masquerade means things can easily go off the rails when the hunters arrive.
My favorite was playing an undercover Black Hand True Brujah in the midst of Camarilla vampires. Had to make sure plans when the way I wanted without getting caught.
The Establishment came around because of the Inquisition, largely. The Traditions are followed to prevent the Second Inquisition and Hunters from wiping them out. It is one part shield from the masses of humanity (who outnumber the Kindred) and one part shackles beholding Kindred to the Camarilla.
I saw some folks shared their cyberpunk screamsheets earlier, so I thought I'd share mine from an Android: Shadow of the Beanstalk game I ran using Genesys. I did incorporate some lingo from both Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0 and Shadowrun.
West End Games was an integral part of expanding the Star Wars universe. Without it, we may not have had the Legends books and the franchise itself might have stagnated.
I loved playing WEG Star Wars RPG in the 80s and 90s. I played it for well over a decade. It is still a great rules system for Star Wars. I got to play a game ran by Peter Schweighofer (designer) at NukeCon in the last decade. I'd play the game today if given the chance.
If you still like D&D but don't like Hasbro, do not despair. You have options.
You can still play with the stuff you own. You already gave them your money. Hopefully some of that went to the people who worked on it (before, you know, they were fired).
Support third-party D&D d20 products. I hear there are some good things in the works for 2024.
Switch to something else. There are lots of other fantasy #TTRPGs out there, any many are great (perhaps better than D&D?).
Seriously contemplating leaving all my Discord servers. People/companies are using #Discord to replace forums, and it is a shit replacement. Discord works best for small to medium-sized groups with a common purpose. #MMORPG /#VideoGame guilds and #TTRPG groups are great examples. Clubs too. But a server with hundreds of users doing Q&As is information overload. Even with the new forum function, it is just clutter. I rarely read them because it is too much to sift through. Blech.
It's been nearly a month. I haven't opened #Discord since I left all the servers. I don't miss the giant walls of text from hundreds-thousands of users.
I'd happy set one up for a gaming group or other small group, as that is exactly what Discord was designed to do. But I would be very hesitant to join any large server again, even if sneak peaks of releases or much needed errata is placed in that unneeded walled garden.
I have been reminiscent about #WorldOfWarcraft, but my machine is just out of reach for the requirements (mostly hard drive space... my SSD is small.) Besides, peak #WoW for me was Wrath of the Lich King.
To tide me over, I have been listening to the soundtracks. The sounds alone conjure such good times. I can see the zones and instances in my mind. I also remember the good times with our guild: Milk and Cookies (Horde) / Tea and Crumpets (Alliance).
It is sad that that after 15 years of doing business with them, I may as well delete my bookmark for CoolStuffInc. They have dumped board games and RPGs from their offerings, choosing to focus solely on collectibles. I really enjoyed their customer service and offerings in the past. But as I do not play collectible games, I guess I am done buying from them.
Anyone have a preferred online store for #BoardGames and #TTRPG stuff? I have used Miniature Market and Game Nerdz in the past. Both have their pros and cons.
Sad to part with my April Lee signed and numbered #L5R prints, but I need to clear out my gaming closet. If anyone near #LNK is interested, let me know.
Doom 3 was a great game and was true to the Doom franchise. It toned down the random slaughter and ramped up the horror. While it lacks its pace and violence, I prefer it to Doom (2016).
Working on yet another long-term game for D&D. Tired of Forgotten Realms (been doing that since the 80s). Greyhawk doesn't hold much appeal for me anymore. So I am looking for inspiration.
What is your favorite #Fantasy#TTRPG setting as a player and/or GM (D&D or otherwise)? #RPG
