“The air strikes on our convoy were not just some unfortunate mistake in the fog of war. It was a direct attack on clearly marked vehicles whose movements were known by the [Israeli military]. It was also the direct result of his [PM Netanyahu’s] government’s policy to squeeze humanitarian aid to desperate levels.”
@entrepierneur@appassionato@palestine Yeah I have seen people on here being a little snide about “why don’t these folks care about what’s happening in Gaza until WCK folks get killed” and folks, that is life, lots of people in the world are dissimilar to you and what makes a thing salient for you will not make a thing salient for them for various reasons. Now let’s talk about why Gaza has your attention but not, e.g., Sudan.
"These are the heroes of World Central Kitchen. These 7 beautiful souls were killed by the IDF in a strike as they were returning from a full day's mission. Their smiles, laughter, and voices are forever embedded in our memories. And we have countless memories of them giving their best selves to the world. We are reeling from our loss. The world's loss.” - Erin Gore, CEO
@ryan@appassionato@palestine@weezmgk The land was occupied by the British, and before that the Turks. There were always people living there. Where did the Palestinians come from? Who did Israel drive out of their homes in 1948? Who did the 450 towns levelled by Israel belong to? Who did Israel massacre in Deir Yassin?
What are you suggesting? Israel peaceably appeared out of nowhere and the Palestinians magically appeared thereafter?
Thousands of Māori gather to tell New Zealand’s government: you cannot marginalise us
“The best protest we can do right now, is be Māori.”
“Be who we are, live our values, speak our reo, care for our mokopuna [children], our awa [rivers], our maunga [mountains], just be Māori – Māori all day, every day, we are here, we are strong.”

Israel has destroyed all the universities in Gaza. Every single one of them. That is a war crime, pure and simple. It’s the obliteration of education and Palestinian future. Every university in the world should be outraged.
@appassionato@palestine
At least one political leader said they would turn Gaza to rubble. They are keeping that promise. I am terrified for the people of Gaza and the Israeli hostages still being kept by Hamas etc. The IDF have shown that if the hostages are men of fighting age they'll shoot them too even if the do everything the can to show they are Isreali.
More than 70 international organisations are calling on all authorities and international institutions to officially declare a famine in Gaza, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has said in a statement.
The entire population in the Gaza Strip (2.2 million people) are experiencing high levels of acute food insecurity, with half of them in the disaster/famine stage.

"Children are starving in Gaza. Instead of opening up the borders and allowing humanitarian aid to come in, Israeli soldiers are shooting people who are desperately trying to get food off of trucks. This must stop. The U.S. cannot continue funding the Netanyahu war machine."
Palestinians in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank carried a long banner filled with the names of thousands of Palestinians killed in Gaza, in a protest marking the beginning of the new year.

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters in Spain’s Basque Country formed a human mosaic representing the Palestinian flag alongside a reproduction on a giant banner of Pablo Picasso’s iconic anti-war painting, Guernica, Reuters news agency reports.
The protest on Friday took place in Guernica’s former market square which was aerial bombed in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War by Nazi Germany’s Luftwaffe.
