I normally do the weekly grocery shop on a Friday but had to go to Perth and back last Friday, so left my partner to sort it — cue Monday morning where I found out he planned for precisely one dinner (we were out on Saturday; he sorted Sunday)…
…and I really need this almost-50-year-old to start understanding that meal planning is an actual task that goes along with the grocery shop.
He used to be competent. Then we fell into traditional gender roles when he was working hugely long hours and I was part-time and raising our kid. But he’s been out of that demanding role for over three years now, we both work from home, and he’s still in the “I’m happy to help if you tell me what to do” mode.
Except sometimes he’s in the “how dare you tell me to wipe the bench after I’ve made a mess, I do everything around here” mode and let me tell you how very close we came to being a divorce statistic after that one.
He’s frankly worse than our teenager and needs to lift his game, actually.
I didn't pay attention to who shared this on my timeline, and I'm sorry for that, but this was one of the better things I've read in years - it's about neorealism, misogyny, reactionary thought and why the popular Three-Body Problem series and its "Dark Forest" hypothesis are feeding into a rightward shift towards authoritarian/hyper-masculine ideology in China and abroad (including here) and man, it's a banger. The author nailed that shit:
Okay folks, it's time to talk about the Star Wars movie that came out last week.
Not a movie from Disney, the four hour review on Youtube about the Star Wars Hotel.
I watched it last week and have been processing it ever since.
Reflecting on the review- it has changed the way I see DIsney parks. Where Disney has always been expensive, the idea that they would build a brand new experience that they would charge people ~10k per person per trip, and still offer them such a low quality experience is genuinely shocking.
I'd never seen this Youtuber before, but going down this rabbit hole, this lady knows her stuff, both on Star Wars and even more on Disney Parks.
The review is very long, but I broke it up and watched the whole thing. I think if you're thinking about Disney, even though this offering is now closed, you should watch it too..
And I'd love to discuss the video in detail for those who watched it!
Yesterday was my first play of the For The People #boardgame in absolute yonks. Since before I have regularly been tracking my plays of #boardgames back in 2007.
The action took place mostly in the east. The central and western theaters soon became a deadlock. Lee getting killed, as a subordinate general, and Grant taking over the Army of the Potomac really opened up the game in the east.
Good game with clever moves and mistakes on both sides.
I'd say this is a mnemonic for which months of the year you can't launch an indie game but if that were true you'd have to add January, June, and part of May
@gamolf_dev@golgaloth speaking of which, does anyone know of any tutorials for actually doing motion graphics with Blender?
Cause I've seen people recommend it for that but then not actually have any idea how to do it or where to even point people who wanna learn to, I've never been able to get a proper answer so I'm left with "just learn the entirety of Blender lmao"
