At the recent Trinidad Carnival, Mas band Vulgar Fraction showed solidarity with Palestine and other places experiencing genocide, thus reinforcing that Mas was, is, and forever will be about revolution.

There's just something powerful and spiritual about Moko Jumbies, the Protectors who see all.

"I've been fighting against empire all my life. I've been fighting against slavery and colonialism all my life. I've been writing to connect with people, not to impress governments and monarchy. So, how could I then go and accept an honour that puts the word 'empire' onto my name? That would be hypocritical."
— British poet and political activist Benjamin Zephaniah on his refusal to accept an OBE

During the First Maroon War in Jamaica, the Maroons were near starvation and Grandy Nanny had been on the verge of giving up. It's said that she had a vision in which her ancestors encouraged her not to surrender. When she awoke, she found three pumpkin seeds in her pocket. Shortly after planting them on a hillside, now known as Pumpkin Hill in Portland, the vines bore enough large pumpkins to save the Maroons from starvation.

Bendito Día de los Muertos!

"In Haitian Vodou culture, November 1-3 is when we celebrate the pantheon of the cemetery, which we call the Gede. Along with the Gede, we celebrate our ancestors, personal blood relatives who have passed. We give offerings of the food and drinks they like... It's a period of honoring and celebrating the connection between the living and the dead."

"Gede is an old African term that came to Ayiti with our enslaved Ancestors... used to describe Spirits who exude certain behavior... Typically, in Haiti you’d find these types of characters... roaming in the cemeteries and surrounding areas... This is why we go to the cemetery to celebrate them. Gede are an essential part of Haitian Vodou. These Spirits are the ones we send to do our bidding... Baron is their chief. Gede are the dead, but all dead isn’t Gede."

The Calabash, which is St. Lucia's National Tree, is significant in Caribbean culture and folklore. The gourd is not only used as a musical instrument and a traditional bowl for eating, but is also a sacred tool for healing, rituals, and spiritual protection.

“Oh rascal children of Gaza. You who constantly disturbed me with your screams under my window. You who filled every morning with rush and chaos. You who broke my vase and stole the lonely flower on my balcony. Come back, and scream as you want and break all the vases. Steal all the flowers. Come back..Just come back..”
— Khaled Juma, a Palestinian poet from Rafah, Gaza, penned this poem in 2014
