nathanlovestrees

@nathanlovestrees@disabled.social

Someone once told me I'm too sincere to be funny.

Full-time caregiver to a disabled brother and father interested mainly in Thoreau, Zhuangzi, animism, Kings of Convenience, and drinking tea.

Master's degrees in music theory and theology (nonpracticing), classically trained and folk musician (also nonpracticing), and I once organized and helped plant over 800 trees on abandoned mine land (I do still plant trees occasionally).

Friendly, annual reminder that there are lots of people, like caregivers, who do not get Labor Day off. There are no days off when you're caring for another.

is there some long German word for the guilt one feels about enjoying the unseasonably warm weather?

I turned back to look and the sun, like Eurydice, began to sink underground once more.

My favorite thing about fungi is that they actively resist being identified. No one ever really knows which mushroom they saw and that's how they like it.

I'm late to the game because I don't know what I'm doing, so a brief :

I take care of my disabled brother full-time and stress about it the rest of the time. When I have the capacity I like to read and think about , , , and like the work of Tyson Yunkaporta and VF Cordova. I also drink too much tea (), am a former classical and folk musician, and wish I could sit under more trees

While it’s customary to move your cattle to summer pastures for Beltane don’t forget to move yourself to summer pastures, too. Kick your milk pails and jump your enclosures; reassert your wildness and embrace your ignorance.

One of my proudest achievements as a parent is that my son (3 going on 4) says, "goose parade!" any time he sees more than one goose.

Went for a walk with my brother and was overwhelmed at everything—the birds of course, the insects yes, but the abundance of plant life was what got me this time. I could feel the aliveness all around, radiating even from me and my brother. I ate the wild black cherry and the wild blackberry, admired the rows of corn and wild apples not yet ready to eat, and smelled the first smell of autumn, a sort of cidery note coming from the earth.

Black cherries (prunus serotina) and leaves, some of the cherries are ripe and deep purple and others are unripe and still crimson or even slightly golden.

I got my hair trimmed yesterday. Glad this boulder didn't.
