Dunno about where you are, but around here GrubHub and all the other delivery services add 25% (yes you read that right, twenty five percent) to every menu item.

AND they have the balls to add “fees” on top of that, which they claim goes to “improving their service.“

Even the “order for pickup with no fees” app Postmates added 25% to Thai food last week. For the “convenience” of not calling the restaurant directly.

Bastards. Greedy bastards.

Today's is Log Horizon, with caveats that I don't think I've watched a lot of isekai into game type stories.

Log Horizon is based off a series of novels. The story starts when a new update to a MMORPG enticed many of their players to log in, and they found that they could not log out anymore. In fact, they are now in the game.

What is unique about this series is, instead of a single player power fantasy, it's more about establishing a community with the rest of the players who are similarly stuck, and also communicating with the NPCs (they are no longer really NPCs) and finding out more about the world itself.

Also, watch it for the Nakata Jouji cat-person Swashbuckler.

I would describe it as the mirror or reverse side of the coin of sword art online.

Personally I enjoy it much better than the hero power trip of SAO.

In sword art online they're very much in a video game with real world danger, while in Log Horizon they're more like in a real world with video game danger. It's more nuanced than that but it does highlight what people do when they're disavowed of most of the usual consequences of their actions.

I read Atlas Shrugged knowing that it was supposed to be a cornerstone work about capitalism. But that was literally all I knew about it.

While reading it I was struggling to figure out if it was meant to be in support of or a parody/satire of capitalist mindset.

I had to look up later which side it was actually for.

    Are there classic that don’t have absurd pacing issues? In general are there people who watch the genre who are critical of it?

    Death Note got me down too much so I started the current season of Jujutsu Kaisen which is such a pick me up in comparison.

    I think in general if the classic anime was an anime original rather than based on (and probably catching up with) an existing manga, the pacing issues would be less severe.

    Coming to mind would be the Gundams vs things like Sailor Moon or Dragonball.

    So I know a few weeks back I had a poll for the next to watch. The choice was . Unfortunately after I jumped in and got through 3 episodes... I have been struggling with an internal battle to continue the series over the past few weeks.

    Outside of Ranka, I really did not like a single character. Also the CG is just not great.

    So I am dropping the series, and moving on to something else. I will post another poll later, which I have a theme for.

    So it looks like Donald Trump will be skipping the GOP debate in Milwaukee. It’s too bad, because he likely would have been asked directly about some of the crimes of which he stands accused, and he could have further incriminated himself on national television.

    Or perhaps that’s the very reason he isn’t showing up. His lawyers probably are very worried about what he might say.
