Well, my search engine, aimed at weighting more towards content than recent or SEO, etc, is up!

Who wants to break it...?

#WritersCoffeeClub OMG! What happened to your MC's parents?

Nothing. Phoebe is just an accountant. I mean, one who fell through a portal to another world, where she happens to be the subject of prophecy after prophecy...
But she's not a witch. She's rather adamant about that. Even if she managed to summon a wolf made of fire. Or fight an actual witch, spell for spell. Not a witch.

Gruna's family... Well... Or Elion's... Uh... That witch from before? She um... Killed them all. A sacrifice...

24 April - When older novels use outdated or racist language, should they be edited for the modern world or left alone and viewed in context?

Hiding from the past means you're often doomed to repeat it.

My country, completely fucked up. I've met survivors from the Stolen Generation, and listened intently to them. We give them a platform to speak, because we know that they need to be heard.

Mein Kampf shouldn't be banned. A lot of the arguments in it are good - Meaning...

PHP's use of iconv allows for immediate and easy buffer overflows, via a bug in glibc. (Other servers don't tend to use iconv in the same way, so don't appear to be vulnerable yet.)

Had a seizure in the checkout. Someone, with all the kindest intentions in the world, called the police to do a Wellness Check.

Please... Please! Don't do this. It disappoints, but the cops are not your friends. A Wellness Check isn't to see if you need help or a carer. It isn't to give you anything. It is to take it away.

5 Apr: What's the best thing about being a writer?

I'm all about escaping into another world. My body in this one is a piece of crap. But, today... Well, today, I had a friend's daughter write a note about how she wants to be a writer, and slip it into my mailbox. Asking for me to help.

And that's the best thing - being able to give someone else's dream, life.

... She stole a loaf of bread.

2 April: Do you keep a journal?

Do health journals count? 😆

But... No. I don't keep a journal. I used to, once. I kept a journal about how someone was hurting me, and how I was trying to not be a target. Which, unsurprisingly, was then found.

The result of which was gay camp. You can beat someone straight, can't you? /s

I don't think I could ever really keep one today.

Not knowing how a woman would approach the situation, Taylor threw aside the expectations. She wasn’t going to be some quiet and meek thing. If Vernon was to have her, then it would be on her terms.

She grabbed him bottom of the beard and dragged it in. She breathed his musk of rum and tobacco, before giving him a kiss firm and strong.

Pants or none, he would know she was the one in charge.

I usually avoid brand names in my books, either just not using them, or inventing brands.

Writing either cars or guns, in a modern-ish setting... That doesn't really work.

I have upset many of my readers, I'm afraid. None of my characters is particularly safe from death, and I have killed off some of my favourites - so long as it works for the plot.

I have regretted some of the angry death threats I have got. Didn't regret killing the character, though.

Fuuuck. Some of my books have been added to GitHub's AI system, because I backed up the code I used to generate them in the private repositories, whilst keeping my copyright and not using any open source license.

I have filed a manual removal, but they've already trained on the data.

Most cafes can't actually make my favourite coffee. Not that it's particularly difficult, but because of words being annoying, and mishearing because of being overworked and run off their feet.

A ristretto coffee is a short shot. A single ristretto tends to be a weak coffee.

My favourite, however, is double ristretto. Which tends to be an extra strong coffee.

256 — Do you have any other writers in your family?

... It's distant, but my second-cousin, once removed, is this little known author by the name of A. A. Milne.

So, there's a bit of a children's author. He did do one murder tale, but mostly the yellow bear. I've only done one kids thing and holy hell I found it so much harder than adult things.

I'm sticking with adult.

The hand curved round to cup her cheek warmly, as the woman leaned in until they were touching, nose to nose. Warm breath that smelled intensely of fish, ale, and tobacco, enveloped Taylor’s head like a small cloud.

The woman made an amused sound, “Je regarderais celui-la, Ed. La peur est quelque chose qu’elle ne connait pas.”
